Can not re-install carbs on ninja 250r

Hi,

Problem: carbs wont go back into the boots, they are ovaled from when I took them out. I managed to get the carbs into the boots but they didnt slide in. Took it out, cussed, here I am.

Notes:

- Airbox didn't move back an inch, myabe 0.3 inch. I would love more room. Followed this guide. http://www.kawiforums.com/ninja-250r...ll-re-jet.html
- Next try I removed the left engine boot.
- oiled the surface of the boots

Solution:

- tried muscle for 2 hours, nothing. will try again but maybe i can move the airbox more back (that forum said 1" back, but another guy and me only got 0.3"

I'm 100% stuck and frustrated. Any tips? or just keep trying? I don't want to get this far and then have it towed to get it done. This process has been frustrating but will be rewarding when I get the bike running right.

Thank you.

Cool

Welcome, Pika !!!

If you have a pre-gen, you can remove the rear tire and gain a lot of room to play with the intake box.

You can boil the boots for a while in order to make the rubber softer.
Instead of oil, use silicone grease, which seals and does not attack the rubber.

unfortunately 2008. I've been using those threads and I've actually done this on another 2008, but this one is very stubborn!

White Shepherd Hydraulic Stop Leak is a plasticizer that will soften and swell rubber parts. Used carefully, it will reverse shrinkage and renew softness in things like carb boots. I bought a gallon reasonably, and keep it around for things like this. It may take a few days of soaking to help a thick rubber part.

I'd rather go to the damn dentist than try and work on the carbs because of that huge plastic air box!!!

Whoa! I feel better now... *sigh* Sorry.
