Talking Ephrata, PA 1st Sundays.

Anyone near Philly, Lehigh, Chester, Delaware heading out towards Ephrata?

Every 1st Sunday of the month between March and November:

Ephrata First Sunday Motorcycle Rally

That place usually gets packed few thousand motos on a nice day.

Usually get some nice photo ops along the ride there and back:

Interersting... Literally my old stomping ground. We moved from Honey Brook last October. This explains all of those bikes driving by my house...

You bet, on a nice warm day, this event attract as many as few thousands motorcycles from the area. Get to see some rare machines:

Cool

Chilly ride this morning, mid 40's with 15-25 mph gust from the NW.
Friend of mine showed up to ride with me out to Ephrata, PA on his brand spankin' new BMW S1000RR, my Ninja 250 looks like a midget bike with him stand over:

Only saw one cop and 4 other cars in 60+ miles of riding, once we got to the gathering place, lots of fancy motos around:

I got to sit on the new carbon fiber Ducati:

Dutch county has many good eats, I think I've been there in the past.

If you got insurance, sure thing. Likely that I will have a few for you to choose from. If you've never ridden a maxi-scoot, I'd suggest the Burgman 650, might not be much to look at, but it's totally utilitarian.

The route we took is usually approx. 50+ mil., there were couple of detours due to bridge outage.. so added a few miles. Mostly single lane backroad with lots of elevation and directional changes. Very entertaining.

I'm well insured

A Bergman, never been on one. Man, if I had one of those my wife might actually get on it. It looks like an scooter on roids. Looking forward to my trip home. Should be sometime in June.

Some gorgeous rides there! Too bad the weather wasn't like it was yesterday (Monday). Took the Bonneville out for a spin. All rain now though

I really gotta make it out for one of these rides this summer!

On average I encounter 4 cars along the route, never seen LEO along the way.
The route pass right by the Maple Grove Raceway, sometimes we get to see the cars line-up for the drag strip.

I plan on going out this Sunday. I live in the Skippack area and could meet you somewhere, because I would have no idea how to get there. I'll send you a PM.

Talking

Another Ephrata Meet is coming up next Sunday, July 3rd.

If I don't get to visit the in-laws in Queens, I will be able to ride out to Ephrata.

Proposed Route Approx. 46 miles, mostly back roads, lots of up and down, twisties.

If I get out of visiting the in-laws this weekend, I would start around 9 - 9:30 AM, from the WaWa at the Limerick exit of Rt. 422.

It's only about 1.5 miles from my apt. I live right before Fulton Street/Akron Rd. I'll try and make Aug 7th if possible. Those roads around Mt. Gretna (Route 117) are quite scenic, lots of turns. Just beware of road apples if you find yourself negotiating a decreasing radius turn (to non-Lancaster County folk, a road apple is a fully formed horse dropping. NO, you do not want to use these apples in apple pie...or dumplings...) LOLZ

@Drew: My pop has a Burg 400, his friend has the 650. Both are sweet, but the 650 is a monster. Easy 100mph machine, underseat can swallow 2 large full face helmets (or a few day's worth of groceries). New 650's are pushing $10k though...

I bought 2 Burgman 650s for less than $4k, combined... no need to buy new.

One was a neglected inner-city-ghetto machine that had sat for years, with some missing body parts, the other was a salvage with mostly scratched up/broken plastics, both have been running great, problem free for over a year now.

Burgman 650 has been the easiest two-wheel machine for two-up riding, with most of its weigh low down to the ground, doesn't matter how your passenger moves about while moving, that machine is rock steady.. large seat and backrest also provide much comfort for passenger. My wife loves it more than any other two-wheel machine she's ridden with me.
