Testing my video setup, tell me what you think

So I have 3 cameras and I want to start making videos incorporating all 3. This is what I figure my standard setup will look like. My helmet cam wasnt supposed to be aimed down so low, I may have knocked it when I was setting up. How do you like the picture in picture stuff? Should I make it bigger/smaller or move it around? Possible make it slightly transparent so you can still see the entire main video? What about the camera angles?

Link to original page on YouTube.

Just found something out, if you are wondering why you can't put youtube videos into fullscreen mode, you are probably in their html5 beta. You can opt out by right clicking on the youtube video and hitting about html 5 or w/e it says and then opt out

I'd consider reducing the size of the main footage to allow space (at either the bottom or top) for the two additional feeds. That way you don't obstruct any particular feed.

I don't know which editing suite you use, but if it happens to be one that allows you to create a layout template and save it, I think that would be an good way to go.

I'm using power director 10. The issue with leaving a gap is that I'd prefer to have overlapping videos than empty spaces. Perhaps if I can find something else to fill it with

Is it distracting from the main video (which is mostly road XD) right now?

I switched to using the open back door on the go pro. Lately I have been having the echo/air'y sound when using the sealed back door on the case.

If you aim your top helmet camera correctly you'll be able to get your dash as well as the road ahead of you.

I would have one camera aimed to your 9 o' clock and have the second over your back seat.

I haven't had the chance to play with PD but I think the PiP is useful in some points of video instead of constantly on. Just my take on it. The PiP ability shines when you're there's other riders all around you in a race or a group ride.

Love it.
The ONLY thing I would change is adding a 3rd wheelie at the end.

PRO TIP: Every time you make a mental note while riding (like, "i need to edit that part out") just add a wheelie or a stopie.

I feel like you should tilt your main camera up a little, so we get a better view of where you're going.

Nevermind, I'm a dumbass and didn't actually read your thread...

I think the Pic in Pic should be both same size, and the one showing speedo be moved to far right.

PS- Think I heard a fork seal bust on that 2nd wheelie

I'm going to have 3 different sound feeds to choose from. I'm not sure which one was selected for this video but the contour roam is going to be in the least windy place (gas tank) so I will most likely use the audio from that. I've also done some tests before and I get really windy video with the gopro regardless of which back I'm using

I don't want to just capture the dash though I want legible speedo/tach numbers. One thing I really like about motorcycle videos is when I can see the speedo/tach clearly, which is why I want to incorporate it

So one camera forward, one left, and one behind

I want the speedo to always be in there, and I just think the rear view is cool, no?

Thats a wheelie attempt . Never even came close to finding the balance point. Why is the video so pixelated . Like that didn't seem hd at all

I wish I lived in a state where lane splitting was allowed . Around here they'd have a helicopter chasing you by the end of your vid lol

Here's what I think: I'm tired of videos with crappy, wind-buffeted audio.

I know everyone is trying to produce good, watchable stuff but nobody seems to really take the audio seriously. It's either wind noise or it's a lapel mike stuffed up inside a helmet for a meandering, multi-subject stream-of-consciousness monologue (*cough*, Outlander Systems, *cough*).

If you want to "kick it up a notch" buy a decent quality microphone and give us something we don't have to mute while we watch.

(I actually did buy a quality microphone and I think the best "true Ninja 250 engine sound" can be had by mounting it, I tape it, inside the right-rear removable fairing, as far aft toward the exhast can on my 2-into-1 Area P as it can go. This gets good engine sound and keeps it out of the wind at the same time.)

I thinking if I use the audio from the tank mounted camera it will sound alot better. I'm pretty sure it used the helmet cam audio which had the worst wind noise. My editing software also has some wind noise reduction features that I haven't tried out. I completely agree with you though, I won't even watch videos with too much wind

Now that I have the 650 I want to turn the 250 into a twisty only/stunt bike. I'm going to do some aggressive gearing 13/47 so that I don't have to drop the clutch at 12k to get it up. I'm guessing I'll need to switch out the forks too. I'm not familiar with how the clutch actually works. Being aggressive with it would burn out the friction plates right? Is the replacement process for that difficult/expensive?

twisty bike setup is very different from stunt bike setup. suspension, gearing, geometry. its all completely different.

replacing the clutch plates is very easy. new clutch kit is like $50. but when you are driving along trying to get somewhere and all the sudden your revs start spiking and you arent going anywhere, you're gonna wish you didnt have to replace that thing.

I have the 650 for commuting, the 250 is my fun bike.

As for gearing, a 13/47 will be good for some stunting, and I don't see a problem with hitting the twisties with it.

I'm not trying to do anything professionally, I'd just like to expand my experience on a bike. I'm sure I can find a mix that will be adequate for stunting and twisties. I mean either way, it will be better than stock right?

For $50 I can afford to switch out the clutch whenever needed.

I'll have to look into a stunt fork setup and see if I can find something that will work for the twisties as well

Guess I'm the only one that thought you 'riding like a dick' was entertaining...As for the video setup, I was almost about to comment about not watching the smaller ones until I saw the lane splitting mirrors. That made it all worth it.

I synced it in the editor afterwords using a hand signal so I could time it up perfect. The gopro actually has a sync cable though that you can use to make 2 of them record at the exact same time

I saw on the gopro site that they now support 3D recording in HD. That's not an April Fools joke, its on their web site.

Does the GoPro support continuous loop recording where it automatically deletes older files and records all the time? I heard it does, but its not in any of the documentation I have seen.

AFAIK the GoPro stops recording as soon as the card is filled up. I have read on other forums that the next firmware may support looping (don't quote me on that).

I second this. I have the Hero 1 and there is no setting for looping.

I've got 32gb cards in all 3 cameras. I'm more concerned about the battery dieing than the card filling up. The contour roam has a 3.5hr battery life and I have an external extra battery for one gopro plus a portable rapid charger

Does the GoPro support continuous loop recording where it automatically deletes older files and records all the time? I heard it does, but its not in any of the documentation I have seen.
I actually have the 3D kit. I haven't gotten to play around with it yet but maybe I'll test it out tomorrow

GoPro 3d kit. Think I'll bust it out tomorrow. Anyone want to see some 3d wheelies?
