Franken-ninja...It's ALIVE!!
This is what happens when you have too many parts laying around the shop and also too MANY BEERS!
It started out life as a 95 ex250 with 8500 miles on it. I cut the headstock off and reattached a front end off of a 89 RM250. The rear shock is also off the same RM. The front forks, wheel and brake are of a 91 YZ250. The forks fit nicely in the RM triples. I am still using the stock swingarm and wheel, which looks pretty funny with the huge 21" front rim. I put on a 51 tooth rear spocket and also installed 2 chain rollers and a derailer(guide). Also a hand made skid plate made from 1/8" steel diamond plate. Foot pegs were lowered and A LOT of additional gusseting and bracing was done to the frame. Subframe was chopped to make a single seater and a rear and inner fender were hand made from sheet metal. Electric start is still maintained. rectifier, CDI, fuse box, battery and all is under the seat. POD air filters, 110 mains, 43 pilots, 3 washers under the needles seemed to do the trick. I turned the stock headers into a 2 into 1 and mounted a stubby Yoshi can. YES, that is a NOS bottle on the front handmade number plate! It's NOT just for show, the seloniod is under the tank and plumbed in the pod filters with a 10hp jet wired thue a "kill" switch on the left handlebar! Fully operational(and untested!!!)HA! What do you all think? |

Thanks for all the compliments guys and gals. It took me about 3 months, start to finish. I figure I have about 30 hours JUST in fabrication time. So I really appreciate your positive response.
I am also very interested in what the final dry weight is. Its on my to do list, I'll let you all know. I chopped A LOT of stuff off, but I added a lot of steel to make it rugged enuff to really hold up off road. Not quite sure how it ended up for weight. As for what kind of beer, most of the figuring and fabricating was FUELED by Moosehead lager. I believe Moosehead is one of Canada's oldest independent breweries. And it's just great. |

Will be interesting to see if the frame can hold up to off-road use in a configuration like that. Nice job for sure.

I've done a lot of bracing on the frame. I think the weak point is the rear wheel. Cush drives are not really made for off road.
I'm not going to to launching this thing off of any triples or anything. I just wanted to make a nice little electric start TRAIL bike to buzz around my property on. |

HA! I assure you the goal was ALWAYS a solid trail bike.
The NOS was also the result of to many parts and beers laying around the garage. Believe it or not I took the NOS system off a 50cc pocketbike I built! The smallest size jet I could get for the seloniod was the 10hp shot. Which probably would have granaded the pocketbike! It was FULLY operational but never tested. Really just a joke, but again it was fully operational, not just for show. Here's a few pics of that GEM! Still have it. The seat is off a 06 gsxr1000, custom subframe. With enuff AA battery's you can make 12 volts. Look at the left bar and you can see the button for the NOS. |

cush
cush drives are not that great for onroad either, I destroy them because I cant leave a light without hammering it. I do like the offroad ninja it looks very cool makes me want to build a mikebike out of one. I once built a volkswagen powered bike I dont know why I did it and the trans couldnt handle it. it is may avatar pic.
I saw a old honda engine from a 70s bike 400cc or less in a minibike before and someday I will build a minininjette. |
