Gas cap screw profile/specifications

Does anyone know of the proper length pitch and diameter screws that i need for the gas cap? this is for a 2005 ninja ex250f. the previous owner sold me the motorcycle without the screws for the gas cap so its been flopping around while i ride. Thanks in advance!

From what I can tell, it's a M5 x .8 (pitch) x 12mm (long).

We replaced ours with stainless steel bolts from a fastener supplier, but they were a standard stock item.

If you have an ACE HARDWARE, or TRUE VALUE HARDWARE store they usually have a nice selection of metric stainless steel hardware.

Forgot the big box hardware places.

Ride bike to store, then find the right one, tell the clerk you want to be sure, and if he'll let you take just one outside, just to make sure it will fit.

When I replaced some of the miscellaneous OEM fasteners with stainless steel allen heads, I just drove my bike there, and then removed the ones I needed, when walked in and matched them up.

Best part is the employees loved it, and some even helped and got into it.

Even had a few fellow riders stop and say, that's and awesome idea to just do it that way.

SIDENOTE: you can purchase fastener kits for the fairings, engine covers, etc.... I personally went the stainless steel kits on both the 250 & 500
