This machine will never see a board or anything other than bill paying websites (at least not at first).
It will mainly be my gaming machine. I like WoW. Not bad for only being $700.

Reminds me that I have a quad core phenom processor sitting in a box somewhere, I used to be hardcore computer builder back in the day. I kinda got out of it after PC gaming started slowing down (compared to what it was like 5 years ago before the 360 and PS3)

Funny, I've been a console gamehead for a while now, and just started to get into PC gaming.

My brother and I just finished building a new Core i5 for our nephew's birthday. GTX 280, 2TB HDD space, the works. I'm still putting around on my netbook and mis-matche Q6600 setup... Asus P5N32E-SLI PLUS (hybrid Intel AMD chipset to equal the 780i feature set), GTX 280, PCP&C TurboCool 1KW (OVERKILL), 8GB DDR2 (why not? this board doesn't seem to do 1T command rate with two modules anyway), etc. The Q6600 is what's holding it back. I hesitate to take a dual-core upgrade but this odd motherboard doesn't support the fastest quadcores for the socket even though it supports 1333FSB... probably due to the strange chipset config. Bad-ass mobo though... all solid caps, DD Live/DTS (GOD I miss nVidia SoundStorm!), etc.
Oh! And it's all in an Antec 900 with all the wires routed under the motherboard and through holes my brother made in the mobo tray. |

ahh niceeee. good to see we have some computer "enthusiast?" in here lol.
let me know the evga works. i have EVGA 9800+ but the thing works great and i have yet found reason to upgrade. hey CZroe, how are the i5s working out? ive been meaning to make a new machine but, im still not sure if i should just wait it out a lil, until prices drop a little on the i7s. maybe they'll go from stupid ridiculous expensive to just expensive >.>; |

Crysis/Crysis Warhead are surprisingly CPU-limited. The only reason he has the better system ATM is because we are still saving for our i7 systems, but seeing just how good the i5 is has given me second thoughts. |

I have it together now. There is only one thing that holds me back, a fuggin SATA cable. I can't get everything going until I get the cable. I have the one for my CD drive, but not my HD. YAY! I get to wait until tomorrow. arg

So I got a SATA cable today. I plugged it in and booted the computer. It didn't post, no beep, just dead quiet. Never good.
So I started to disconnect everything, except what is required, and booted again. Still no noise, no video. I was thinking it was the MB, but decided to use my get out of jail card by phoning a friend. We talked about it and we decided it had to be the motherboard. So off I went to get a replacement. I got back here, and tore the system down. It all of a sudden made sense why the computer didn't boot. There was some heatsink compound that was on the pins themselves. I decided to try to be "cheaper" and get the OPEN BOX motherboard. Umm, whatever you do, DON'T DO THAT! lol The previous owner FAILED when it came to installing the board. The compound was all over the pins, shorting them out. yay for me! I got another board, it is up and running and installing WinXP right now. Ohh I can't wait! Once it is up and running, I will go and download antivirus, the drivers for my goodies, then download WoW, and play using full graphics! I can't wait, it should be much better than running with everything at rock bottom on my laptop! lol [/geek]
