Get a top box and you'll never own a bike without one ever again.

As nice as it was to have one I hated it. I bought a nice one a few years back when I did new luggage, and never installed it. The old one was always in the way. I have a tail bag for the KLR and one on the way for the ninja. I'll only put them on for long tours. A tank bag or panniers are enough for me on a daily basis.

@verboten1 : For adding hooks, check out my recent post in "Cargo Space": https://www.ninjette.org/forums/showthread.php?t=222929 Also, I use one of these Master cable gun locks for my helmet. I hang my full face Shoei on the left passenger peg and lock it up through the bracket and face shield opening. No need to remove your luggage and/or fumble around with the seat. It's the perfect length, more secure, and the cable is plastic coated to avoid scratching. Only around ten bucks too!

Thanks, those look nice. I had to go with hooks since I'll be tying down my tailbag. My bike doesn't have anything down there. Is it supposed to?

There is a hook on either side near the rear signals.

All I know of is the wire hooks under the tail section that easily break off. One of mine is gone. I think the metal gets weakened the second Kawasaki welds them on. You can run long bungees or nylon straps to the rear footrest brackets I guess, but I think the shorter the better. Long stuff allows for too much movement and load shifting. I've used the fairleads on another bike and they worked very well. Haven't installed them on the 250 yet.

Thanks. I don't have any of that stuff down there, I was wondering why they had no tie points at all.

Cool thanks.I never use bungee cords to secure a load, any stretch is bad. I typically use my Aerostitch quick release nylon tie downs, and done home made ones, but only for things I can loop around. My new bag has great tie downs (it better for the price) go to pass peg bracket and around the license plate bracket for now. Then I'll put hooks on the bracket when I get them.
