[visordown.com] - KTM RC250 and Duke 250 revealed

KTM has unveiled 250cc versions of its Duke and RC range in Tokyo, as predicted by Visordown last week.

The Austrian firm already makes the single-cylinder Duke and RC 125 and 390, as well as a 200 variant for foreign markets.

The new models use a sleeved-down version of the 43hp 390 engine. They now produce 31.3hp and 17.7ftlb of torque, giving them 6hp more than the 200 variants.

All the Dukes and RCs share the same frame and the new bikes are no exception.

The 250s - which some Indian websites are reporting could be exported globally - will make competition for Honda’s CBR250R and Kawasaki’s new single-cylinder Ninja 250SL and Z250SL.

Both machines were unveiled at the Tokyo Motorcycle Show this weekend.
