Looking at a high mileage bike, what should I look for?!

Hi, I found a bike that I was thinking of buying as my last deal fell through at the last minute. (Someone offered the seller full price literally the day I was supposed to come and pick it up), anyways, It's a 2009 special edition, with 8,100 miles. Has had three dealer services at 600/4,000/7,500 miles. Never been laid down or in an accident. He's looking for 2,500$. What should I look for or consider, as this is the highest mileage new style 250 that I have seen. Thanks guys

umm would you consider a honda high mileage with 50000 miles? that bike should be fine, actually my 2 cents is it's just broke in...remember it's not a 1984 chevy

Sounds like the bike is just broken in. I would follow up on the maintenance and get records from the dealer it was taken too. Good Luck on your purchase!

interesting, I'll make sure he has the records. For some reason I thought that was worth than it appears to be.

3 dealer services doesn't mean 3 oil changes... If you like the bike go for it. 8k is not alot of miles in the long run, the only problem is that you will probably have a harder time re-selling it. btw, why do you want another 250 ?

I'm not looking for another one. I thought I had the first one locked up and it was a bit of a drive from my house and someone came down with the money before I could get there. So I am, as of now, unfortunately ninjaless

My 2009 250 turned 1 year old on friday and has 8900 miles. Got the valves adjusted. Have changed the oil 3 times. Rear tire flat in the middle yet still showing wear markers (will replace soon). front tire in good shape. Brakes still have plenty of pad left. So I would say go for it.

Damn. That's considered "high" mileage? I'm significantly higher already.

it's due for it's first valve inspection/adjustment. Has that been done? if so, I'd say that's a good deal. Typically, the valve adjustment runs a couple of hundred dollars at least.

Well, that's what was supposed to happen at 7,500 miles, so if it truly "Has had three dealer services at 600/4,000/7,500 miles," it should have been done. FWIW, I couldn't get it done for less than $330.

I would be more concerned about a ten year old bike with 1K-5K miles on it than a newer one with 15-20K.

Ryan's Buell is just barely a year old had has 8,000 miles on it, I wouldn't say it's high mileage. Seems like a good deal imo as long as service has been kept up on it.

Thats an awesome price for a 2009.

I picked up a 2008 with 7700 miles 2 weeks ago for $2250. Best purchase I've ever made.

My friend who rode the bike back for me was really impressed by it, he owns an R6 and said that the clutch control and shifting on the bike was really nice and that it accelerated very smoothly and well.
