Exclamation Ninja 250R Recall - FI models

I didn't see any other posts about this, so here it is:

Some new-gen Ninia 250R models have a problem where the vehicle down sensor’s operation may be affected by vibration through its mounting bracket. This can cause the engine to stop running.

These are the effected models:
range.jpg

If you have one of those models and a valid warranty, I believe you can take your ninjette to your local kawi dealer and have the bracket replaced. Kawasaki will pay for you to have a new design of bracket installed that does not cause the same problem.

If you don't have one of the effected models then you must send your ninjette to Akima

@Alex: I posted this here as more people will see it here than in the '2008+ tech' forum.

Ha! Well done. I was reading this, thinking of how professional and thorough you were being. And then did a double take at the end.

Shush! You're revealing my ploy.

Your vehicle down sensor has probably died already from being over-worked

i went to get my warranty transferred on my bike and they said that there was a recall on the foot pegs where it might fall off or something on some bikes. Anyone else get that?

Yeah i just brought mine in Saturday for the passenger foot peg thing. 2012 model, US. Luckily my GF is super light because I had her on the back a few days before the dealer called me up about it.

i don't know why, but your avatar makes me think you're like 12 years old... i don't know why... i can't get over it. so reading this, my mind pictures little 12-year-old timmy with a hot babe on the back doing a rolling burnout.

maybe i think about these things too much.

Cheers for the heads up, I'll have a chat with the local place about this.

Is it the oil level sensor that I've heard of causing bikes to cut out if they're low on oil & banked over I've been down on the right & once it was lifted back upright & checked over it was happy to fire up again.

Pretty sure the carbed bikes don't have this sensor. I recall Motoman ("hard break in" proponent) suggesting that all racers bypass these dangerous switches/sensors for exactly that same reason. I'm guessing that the the FI bikes which have them have them as some kind of misguided safety regulation.

It's for the "K" bikes, i.e. only the fuel-injected models sold overseas. I'll edit the title and move it to the new-gen tech area, but I'll leave a pointer in General for 30 days. (I typically leave that forwarding link whenever I move things anyway).

@akima. You are quite cheeky lately. (Did I use that term correctly? I'm a yank in yanks clothing. Or, something like that.)

Cheeky isn't an American word?!

It means to push up against the boundaries of what is ok and be a bit playfully, naughty.

Yeah. You're cheeky, alright.

It isn't an American word. At least not originally. I have a feeling that it has now migrated to the US (not unlike your former subjects, the yanks!)

Thanks. I recall someone mentioning this and it was pointed out that carb-spec bikes don't have the sensor.
