possibly a cheap yet clean rear swingarm hugger - Group Buy
Yamaha came out with this bike in Indo. this year called the Byson~
they have a reasonably good looking swing-arm cover i then found this write up about using this huger on the ninjette http://bennythegreat.wordpress.com/2...-di-ninja-250/ best part is that it costs dirt cheap... something like uh... 3 or 4 USD... yeah that's right, less than $5!! (unless i misunderstood the lady at the spare parts counter, lol) im gonna order it and post some pictures of getting it installed~ might take a while to order the part though, there isn't any ready stock of it here in Bali atm cheers W.

Awesome! If this works i might give it a go too, replacing my Sportisi.. Even tho it does not look as good as the Sportisi, its alot more practical when it comes to adjusting the chain, rear brake (which is totally unaccessable with the Sportisi), and to use a rear stand without drilling or removing the Sportisi hugger.

I saw someone mention a bike from India with a really similar rear hugger and a similarly unbelievable price more than a year ago. I'd like to see what it looks like when painted.

Ah! I see the thread from before is in the "similar threads" section below.
http://www.ninjette.org/forums/showthread.php?t=47181 Wayan participated in that one too. It comes with the Yamaha FZ16 in India (OP says FZ15 but his DIY says FZ16). Is that the same bike as the Byson? I see similar search results for FZ15, FZ16, FZ150, and YZF15. I think one is the fully-fared version, kinda like Kawasaki ER6n and EX650 or Suzuki SV650S and SV650F. |

I noticed that the Byson has no rear disc brake. I looked it up and it appears to have a drum brake. Weird!

I'm lik'en the Byson.
Whenever I am overseas I think how cool it would be if we had access to all of the variety.

i plan to buy one, and do a write up on the installation. could work on a GB for this eventually if it works out. for the moment i just have to sit tight and wait till the part arrives at the distributor. i already placed a deposit for that, and some other parts that i am buying from Yamaha for my "street fighter mod" W.

I am interested in seeing it on your 250 as well wayan. I actually started looking around for bikes similar in the states and I ended up finding out the cbr250r has a similar style hugger to the bike you posted. I might have to look into this some more.

yeah, the CBR 250 swing arm huger could possibly be a good fit also! but you wont be able to beat the yamaha price
i just confirmed, and ordered the part its costs a little over $3! they were not able to tell me how long it will take for the part to arrive, so i just have to wait... there is a little modding required, but it looks real easy. now I'm glad i didn't shell out over $100 for the fiberglass hungers, hehe... this Yamaha one i would imagine is gonna be a lot lighter too, which i like! obviously it doesn't transform the OEM ninja swing-arm into the big chunky R6 looking swing arm style, but i was never really that attracted to that look anyhow (and there are often clearance issues with the exhaust, etc). I've always wanted the rear huger just to stop the mono shock from getting totally filthy...

so i got the part yesterday from the Yami dealer, and it went quite well!
i started to make a couple custom brackets/mounts to connect the hugger to the swingarm on the chain side, and another under the brake caliper. will take some more pics later when i get home from work. only one hole lines up, which is the one by the rear wheel sprocket. the others are all a little off. but easily remedied with some little strips of metal. to be continued...

ya, the shipping greatly outweighs the actual price of the item in this case; if it were to be sent from here... but if you look at it in a different light and compare the total cost, and compare it to some other available huggers, its gonna still be possibly about half the price.
if you guys can source them from Mexico, that would save a heeeap on shipping, and definitely worth doing it that way. im posting this not because i want to sell it, lol im posting this so you guys can see that its 100% possible, and looks quite good. i don't think ive seen anyone else post the install. although i did put in the link (http://bennythegreat.wordpress.com/2...-di-ninja-250/) to that thread/blog where i got the idea from in the first place on my opening thread W.

i havent finished installing it, was about half way through last night when i had to go have dinner with a friend, and then i was too full to work on it when i got home again, HAHA...
il show what parts i made to fix the huger to the swing arm, been really easy so far. then final pictures of the it installed on the bike. oh, i just saw on the "similar threads" list that someone already posted about the same hugger that they bought in India, hehe http://www.ninjette.org/forums/showthread.php?t=47181 costs $3 there too, lol edit: duh, i even posted on that thread a while back but totally forgot about it xD

I just came in because the only part of the thread title that shows in the main screen "last post" list of threads is: "possibly a cheap yet clean rear"
Which is something we all want.

need to cut the plastic almost all the way, also need to cut a notch in the vertical structural piece (not visible, n forgot to photograph) anyhow, it rubs onto the caliper. and thats not acceptable my high tech custom bracket, lol... brass strip, and some copper wiring all together... that was a PITA to get the bolts together, lol... i added a spacer between the plastic and the brass tab i made, so that there was enough space between the plastic and the caliper once the brake pads start to wear down, and the caliper starts to move out. then took a couple pictures when it was all done. it gives an overall nice look i think, makes the swingarm "look" bigger, hehe, but was really easy to get on, unlike some other huger DIY's ive read about gawd my bike needs a wash! lol enjoy
