2008 - 2009 any changes?
just wondering, were there any changes made between the two models?
from what i gather they are the same, just different build year, is that right? cheers, |

Only significant differences I'm aware of are colors (Greez is wrong, the new blue is way worse!) and stock tires.

I heard they made the 08s too fast so they slowed them down just ever so slightly for the 09s....

either way, im getting the 08 model in red. although its already 09 now... but that's all i can get over here... maybe 09s will be available in 2010! damn taxes here jack the prices up so much... paying about 4.550 USD. but i think its worth it, or at least i hope it will be! been 4 months since i sold my ninja, but is seems like its been years! cant wait to get on the 250! been stuck to driving a car or my gf's scooter, lolz almost thought about buying the 250 KLX actually, but that costs $1000 more, so meh... the ninja it is! |

we get the carburetor version, at least on the spec sheet it shows a close up picture of the carburetors. they are imported from the Thailand Kawi plant, and assembled here in Indonesia if i'm not mistaken.
sadly all imported bikes get an incredibly high import tax since they fall under the luxury tax category. getting 100~200% tax depending on the item or deal that they cut with the tax office probably, lol i know that to get a Ducati monster, or honda CBR600RR for example its practically twice the price as in europe. however i think because Kawasaki has been operating in Indonesia since a long time, and have their own manufacturing plant for smaller scooters they were able to come off with a lighter import tax for the 250R... from the $3500 (about) to 4500~5000$ (depending on the exchange rate) currently for some reason they don't have the 2009 model available (probably because they want to get rid of their 08 stock, lol). but since its only a difference of color / stickers? im not so worried, since i like the red anyhow, although i'm having second thoughts about getting the black one instead, since it would be a lot easier to fix the black faring if / when i drop the bike, lol has Kawi by chance released the color code for the various color models? i know cars over here have a color code so its possible to buy paint to touch up the paint work. i asked here at the dealer and they seemed quite clueless. ill definitely post pics of the bike here in the tropics :P |

Thanks Gary, thats a neat website with all the colors, undercoat, and clear coat all selectable, but meh... to get that sent all the way here from the states its definitely gonna cost more than painting the whole bike in red over again, lol! (on top of it there are very strict regulations now with shipping liquids internationally...)
Quart +$189.95 <- just for the base coat, and again that much for the clear coat... and it doesn't seem like they have the color for the red model, just has the name, Passion Red, but no code, nor is it available on their website. which makes me think that its gonna be tricky to get the right color... i could probably try and get a pain lab to try and match the color manually. ive done that for a friends car who's pain had faded, and the color as per the code did not match, because the pain in the car was not the same anymore. now im really starting to think about calling the dealer to change my order from Red to Black! xD |
