If it is the CDI, he can do the continuity/resistance checks illustrated in my other thread on CDI troubleshooting. He may have just discovered another potential problem with the '08+ CDIs.

Huh. If so, could this be what the recall is for? After all, it's safety-related considering that it's an EMERGENCY cut-off switch.

If you think its the cdi, just disconnect the Neg lead on both coils. Will it still try and turn over via the starter button in the off postion?

I got a replacement CDI and swapped it out tonight. Still same effect. Kill switch does NOT work still. I give up... use the key to cut the engine.

that tells you it's not a CDI problem.

did you check for continuity on the br/blk wiring harness wire from the switch to the CDI?

while you should be using the key to kill the motor, anyway, the killswitch is a safety device to shut off the engine should you ever need to in an emergency. having it functional may come in handy one day.

It gonna be the Red wire, thats the one that should have No +12 with the switch off.
Red supplies +12 to the starter switch & coils, when the kill switch is On..

Just an FYI, your CDI resistance numbers that you measured are the same as my '09 CDI, at least for the pins that you checked.

disconnect the connector leading to the kill switch. jumper it on the harness side of that connector and see if the bike starts. if it does start, the switch is the problem.

I will short out the connection KKIM, but this is a new switch that tests fine when disconnected from the harness.

It's also a 6 wire connector. That's why I suggested earlier to use the old switch and cut the 2 kill switch wires and plug the connector into the harness. If the bike doesn't start, the switch is the problem.
