[visordown.com] - Honda Super Cub gets 3D patent
The C100 Super Cub COPYCATS seeking to emulate the enduring charm of Honda’s Super Cub could be in for trouble after it won Japan’s first three-dimensional vehicle trademark. The world’s best ever selling motor vehicle has not been available in the UK for over a decade but is still produced in 14 countries around the world, primarily for emerging markets including China and Indonesia. The 3D trademark, which is rare for a consumer product, protects the Super Cub’s shape. It could prove useful to Honda in countries where sales continue, some of which are members of the World Intellectual Property Organisation along with Japan. Over 60 million Super Cubs have been sold worldwide since 1958, including the C50, C70 and C90, the last to cease production for the UK. Isn’t it time we had it back?
