Free upgrade

If someone were to tell you, "Name a bike, any bike, and you will get it free of charge."

What would you get?

Well, since I'm more of the trail guy now, it may be tough. A part of me is wanting a WR250R/KLX250 OR a CRF450L.

I know for some of the stuff I ride, the Yami would be the best. The 450 being the most street worthy, and the KLX...well, I love team green.

I'd have to weigh the pro's/con's.

What about you?

Probably a later model Yamaha TZR250 like this -

or a Bimota DB7 -

In reality, I may be on the lookout for a Cagiva Mito 125 2-stroke in the future -

It's called vapourware!! All these promised intro dates that come and go with ... nothing! No real specs other than 2 power figures. No one has spotted one in the wild. Only celebrity racers riding promotional video 1-off prototypes...

Here's the latest promise (yesterday, 6/29/20), launching in Indonesia July 10, 2020 -

https://bikeadvice.in/kawasaki-zx25r...ate-indonesia/

So...it sounds like it is really gonna happen (maybe).

Did Honda ever release the CBR250/300RR twin in Indonesia or India? There was a bit of buzz about that a year or so ago - just like the Ninja.

Don't know if it ever happened, and why it never came here if it did.

KZ1000 S1 ELR.jpg

from the May 1982 Cycle magazine S1 review article. 29 of these motorcycles were imported for AMA superbike racing in 1982, dealer cost was $10,999.00.

Oooeer... Them TZ250s!

There are other bikes for sure, but I always wished I could have a concept bike, from the late 80s..maybe early 90s.

Yamaha Morpho ( not the Morpho II)

And the Suzuki Nuda.

Something about them, that was futuristic, yet still real world.

But must admit, the dual headlight is most iconic. I remember when the CBR 900, and the 916 came out.. The 900 taken the world by storm, even with that twitchy 16" front wheel, and Homer Simpsons "speed holes". And the 916.. Lusty babe! And her lullaby "song."

An oddball fave I wish I could get. The Fischer MRX 650..

For some reason my love for the old VFR800 (RC46) came to mind. Dang I wanted one so bad. And that engine noise was just amazing.

That thing is either insanely fun, or lets have a comparison. If a mild mannered bike is a "death machine" to a cager, THAT bike is the same concept, but to a rider.

It simply DOES look like an under braked, over powered, twitchy speed missile! Not sure if I want to know more, or not, about it.

No doubt to be "TWITCHY" with those tiny tires, forward weight, spindly frame and swingarm and lets not forget the brakes made for 25 MPH max! I bet its a blast to ride but with such a short wheel base it must be a chore to keep the front wheel on the ground.

Always wanted an ELR.
When my buddy bought one for cheap 5 years back, I wanted so badly to buy it off him.
I found the next best thing, or even better, a ZRX.

Here it is, on right, next to a buddies S1 clone:

....for RSTnick........

My current 99 1100...(13k miles).....I bought a new 2000 back in Dec 1999, but it was destroyed in 2015 (towing to Bike Week Daytona....lost my bike/trailer/truck from an idiot who fell asleep at the wheel). I've had (9) ZRX's over the years.....

ZX11s too, but more HP than the ZRX.
How is the riding position compared to the ZRX?
Lower bars, or not really?

Ha ha......yeah, I've had my share of ZX11's too......this old man's body can't take that position anymore!! I don't have much seat time on the GPz.....but I did on the ZRX. I actually think the GPz is alittle more "leaned-over" than the ZRX. With some bar-risers on the GPz, it might be a totally different bike. I just like the looks/lines of the GPz......"gentleman's sportbike" vs "muscle bike retro" for the ZRX. If someone had the gumption ($$$), a ZRX1200 engine with a 1224 kit swapped into the GPz frame would be a killer combo. But why go to all that trouble when the ZZR1200 already does all that (145HP....stock!!).
