Still lovin this stupid little scoot
Just sayin...
At least my Harley gets to stay nice and clean in the garage. I have nobody to ride with which I thought was a bad thing but as it turns out.. my Ninja is so much fun to ride I don't even need anybody to ride with. There isn't a single thing about this bike that I don't like. I wanted to say something really positive because its my 200th post. I have only been riding for 8 years. Put on a ton of miles over the years though. My first bike was a 2001 250r. I thought that bike was really fun to ride but I sold it in around 4 months because everybody told me I needed a bigger bike. I then thought that the reason it was so much fun was because it WAS my first bike. Well... about 25 bikes later ranging from 6 cylinder Valkeries to Harley Ultra Classic touring bikes and everything inbetween.. I am back on a 2003 250R and its just as fun as it was when I first started riding. There is something about these bikes that just makes you want to ride EVERY DAY. |

That's great! It's a fun bike to take out and cruise around on. I have been taking out my 300 instead of the 6R most of the time.
Your Harley and my 6R are getting sad and jealous. Make sure you still take your Harley out for a ride from time to time. I use my 6R on the weekend for more spirited riding. |

Same here, I just got mine a couple of months ago and having a blast on it. I'm prepping it right now for a road trip down the Blue Ridge Parkway the first week of September to the Wheels Through Time museum. My friends think I'm nuts, but I know it will be a hoot.

Same here. This is the 4th Ninja 250 I've owned. I've also owned everything from several cruisers to a Hayabusa and currently also own a Honda ST1300. There is something about the 250 that is just fun. Part of it is its light weight. Part of it is the high revving engine. It is fun to ring that engine's neck for all it's got. It sounds like a big, pissed off sewing machine.

Still want a 250 My 500 is plenty fun but it's heavier and not as revvy so I imagine it doesn't have quite the same charm. I've always chosen to ride my big bikes over it too, but it will probably be more fun when I get the suspension and brakes set up.

and it really does make you a better rider because of all the shifting and the best thing about it to me is how I can flog the crap out of that motor and it just begs for more. My bike runs better the more I am stomping on it. The riders on the big bikes only get to experience those high rev shifts when they are on the highway. I can do it in my neighborhood!

Agreed...
I bought mine back a few weeks ago. Sold her 3 years ago, after following the horsepower to bigger bikes. Liter bikes are fun, but have so much more power than I can use on the street that I found myself missing my ninjette. Zach |

That's the problem I was having with my Honda Superhawk litre bike. Unless I was on the highway I could rarely get that bike out of 2nd gear. It was almost like riding an automatic.
On my 250 I can almost get into 4th gear between traffic lights. One guy came up to me in the parking lot at Stop and Shop and he asked me how I liked my bike and commented on how nice the green color is on it. He also asked what size it was because it looked small. I gave him the story. He told me his first bike was a Honda 250 but it was too light, too small and it got blown all over the place on the highway. It was also underpowered for highway riding. I explained to him what the difference between that 250 and the Ninja 250r is. He told me he rides big bikes and I told him my big bikes are at home and I always find myself on this one unless my wife wants to go for a ride or I am going on a road trip. What I told him was this. This bike is plenty fast for anywhere in Connecticut, it really doesn't get blown around much on the highway, it handles beautiful, it stops great, its very dependable and easy to work on and I am getting over 50mpg and the best thing is I can shift it like an indy car around town and it just loves it. It also cost next to nothing to buy and next to nothing to insure. Best part.. its my favorite color. Lime Green. He left saying maybe he should pick one up. Yep... |

Yup...
I really wasn't in the market for a bike, but when my old bike showed up on craigslist a few cities away, she followed me home like a lost puppy. Zach |

Work bike
Bought the '02 seven years ago to teach a daughter to ride. She has since moved on and the green machine has become my (daily commuter) work bike.
I've been a daily rider since the late 70s and probably have close to a half a million miles on 2 wheels. This stout, simple, amazingly capable little bike impresses me everyday. I love the feel and intake sound of the twin. I wring it's little neck on every ride, do 80-90 mph on I-95 and she always returns 50 mpg. Doesn't use a drop of oil. j98sprint |

5 more weeks of riding this bike almost every day. Backroads, highway, around town... just lovin it.
Went shopping and bought 2 fishing poles and reels, some tackle and stopped at Bobs and bought a new pair of shoes. Strapped everything to the back with my net and came on home. My Harley is really starting to wonder whats up. |

I've been riding for nearly 50 years and own 16 motorcycles right now. I picked up a little 2002 Ninja 250 last year on a whim. What a great little bike!! I've had more fun with it than any bike I've ridden in a long time !! Brings back memories of the bikes we all used to ride , before bigger was better. I'm happy with it!!!

Well, its 5-4-15 and I am still loving this bike. Took it out over the weekend and its just plain fun to ride. I mostly ride by myself because most of my friends either ride Harley's or large sport bikes (600cc min). I just can't hang with those riders on the highways and in order to get to the good riding area's you almost always have to get on the highway at some point. Doesn't matter to me. My Harley... again.. for another season is getting seriously neglected. I have been trying to sell it for a long time now but don't believe what most people will tell you about Harley resale value because they are full of crap. Harley's have terrible resale value just like any other bike. Actually.. I find it to be worse because potential buyers expect SO much more when they are buying a used Harley so you will get back NOTHING of what you put into it. Anyway... back to my Ninja. It rocks. It looks great and there is NOTHING more fun than wringing out a 6 speed 250 shifting at 10K around town. It also handles like its on rails (because of my upgraded suspension), and it refuses to burn any fuel.

Nice! I ride mine a lot too. Its on the back burner for now. I bought a drz400 duel sport, I'm still in the honeymoon stage so I ride the dirt bike mostly. Stayed on the dirt bike all week riding to work. Hopped on the ninja650 and it felt so smooth and powerful. Haha. Feels like the 650 gained 50 extra HP.

I feel like i should extend an invite to some of my rides....you wont be left behind, and highway is avoided at all cost.

HEY
me too! Still don't know how many miles i've logged as my speedo isn't hooked up, but I filled up the tank for the 4th time this morning. 3 gal x 60 mpg x 3= 540 miles in about 3 weeks. |
