decel+clutch+up shift at same time?

That's how I've been shifting for the past few weeks that I've been riding. It results in somewhat jerky behavior especially if my timing is off since I usually wait till the high rpm range in each gear (9-10k) to go to the next. Should I hold off on up shifting until the end?

sorry, i meant wait until I clutch and decel and then shift instead of all at the same time.

Im not sure of what you are trying to say but, are you saying your upshifts are jerky? If so the only the I can tell you is practice practice practice, it will get smoother with time. Also make sure you are not just dumping the clutch every time you shift, you should be smooth and fast when opening/closing the throttle, and releasing/engaging the clutch.

On upshifts I barely stab the clutch - smooth and fast as said above. Pre-load the shifter (just apply a bit of force on the shifter before actually shifting), pull in the clutch just a little bit and release it smooth and fast... the result will be a buttery smooth shift. 1st to 2nd were more time consuming to get smooth for me... but quick light stabs with preloading with the shift lever results in a very smooth shift in all the other gears almost every single time I upshift. I also don't completely let off the throttle, I just roll off probably something like 30% of its travel range quickly and smoothly.

It's part of the fun learning to get shifts just right

Oh, and considering you said you shift at 9-10k... it's especially more relevant to do a small stab at the clutch at those revs. At 9-10k shifting can be buttery smooth with just preloading the clutch lever and proper throttle control - clutchless shifting. Don't try that till your fully comfortable with regular shifting though

. Light quick stab at the clutch. I know I said it a million times - but it made a world of difference in my shifting.
