Ninja 250 race bike Australia

Hi. Recently bought my 12 model 250 race bike. Had a few mods already done when I bought it. Race fairing, arrow pipe but standard headers, cheap eBay rear sets and near new Pirelli supercorsa tyres. Front suspension has pre load spacers and 15wt oil. Took it out for my 1st track day on it last Sunday. Bloody brilliant little bike. Took a few sessions to get my head around how to ride it but managed to knock 15 seconds off lap time between 1st and last session. A few little things need sorting out to make it just a little better for me. I’ve got some clip on bars, quick action throttle, braided front brake line, arashi rear sets and some stomp grip for the tank arriving tomorrow. Apart from that I’ll leave it how it is for now and just ride the wheels off it. Although some adjustaboin the front and rear would be nice. Gsxr Rear shock upgrade maybe. Looking forward to racing it next season.

Hi Ash!

Awesome find! Used race bikes are great deals as they usually have some of mods you want already done. These little bikes are so much fun on track!

Played around with the little ninja today. Fitted up the gixxer shock. It’s not a bolt in swap but its close. The top mounting bolt on the kwaka is 12mm and the gsxr shock is 10mm. Some people try and drill the 10mm out to the 12mm to fit the frame mount. Thats a hack way to do it and would be near impossible. Made up some reducing top hat washers to take care of that. The bottom mount on the gsxr shock need to be widened 2.2mm. Stuck the shock in the mill and removed the required amount. The dog bones on the kwaka are 166mm, i wanted a bit more ride height so went 156mm. As the gsxr shock is slightly wider at the bottom you also need to space the dog bones out a little. 8mm worked out to be a good clearance. Could have used washers but thats not how i roll. Machined up 4 8mm spacers to suit. 2 either side. Longer bolts are also needed of course
