Crap. Well I think I found one on barf. I paypalled the guy so I'll see I guess. It's dent and rust free on the outside... No inside shots though...

Doesn't look too bad at all. What kind of money did ya have to throw down if you don't mind me asking. I sold mine for 225 shipped and thought I gave a good deal but new to the cycle scene so not really sure how I did. Here's a few pics of mine. Btw what's barf? Never heard of that.

Barf is bay area riders forum. Northern cali but pretty much covers the west coast.

He was asking $65 shipped and I paid him but he just flaked. So I'm back on the hunt. Your tank looked mint tough. Too clean for my bike

Anyone have a lead on a tank? Anyone have a salvage place in their area that might have one?

Well, if you must buy one new check ronayers.com. Also apachemotorcycles.com is who I use a lot since they're also cheap and in Arizona so tax free and close for shipping. They have some at $441 new depending on the color. Like if it's a solid color or if it has a decal under the gloss. I just bought a bike that has a rusted tank but not too bad. So I did the drywall screw thing to break loose the bulk of it and I have a POR-15 cycle tank repair kit that I bought for $40. If you found a cheap tank that was lightly rusted, you could go that route. On another note, salvage yards typically sell non dented tanks with normal wear/tear for 50% of the retail price meaning you may pay $300 plus tax on one if you found one locally. I guess keep your eyes on ebay...although I looked recently and theres a ton of newer tanks on there but very few pre-gens.

Best of luck!

So dude, just did a little more searching on my own including a google search of tanks on craigslist. Not looking good man =( Maybe you could buy a wadded bike and part it out and keep the tank. I just bought my 2005 with 5k miles in near perfect condition bodywise with a lightly rusted tank and needing a carb clean and battery for $660 with some nice gear thrown in too. Heck, that's near the price of a used motor with shipping. So yeah, start combing craigslist for cheap complete bikes to use the tank off of and sell for parts =) A set of carbs sells for $150 or so I noticed. Just a thought.

Thanks for looking out. I've been searching all craigslist within 300 miles and coming up with nothing. Really upset that the guy flaked on me. He said some crap came up and he couldn't get to the parts. Now I see he bumped his for sale thread and marked the tank as sold. What a douche I'm gonna see what I can do to repair the tank I have. I let it soak with 5 gallons of vinegar, shook it up with a length of chain inside and got it pretty clean. Well I guess all that rust is what was keeping it sealed because a bunch of pinholes popped up afterward.

You got a killer deal on your bike BTW.
