Rear Brake Caliper Rebuild
Hello everyone, so I am in the process of rebuilding my rear brake caliper and I noticed a lot of white residue left on most of the bolts. I was just wondering what this was. Grease? Thread locker of some sort? I noticed some of the white residue on the bleeder valve when I took it completely out. Any idea what this is? Also, should I use thread locker on the bleeder valve? Any other screw? Thanks!

Oxidation.
I use blue threadlocker on the bolts holding the calipers on to the bike.

Oh I guess I should've asked first. Was the residue hard and making everything stick together? That would be oxidation. Often happens to the caliper pins. I put a thin layer of waterproof grease on them to help prevent that.

Yeah, sounds about right. Just added a little bit of of grease to them as well.

Use a copper or silicone based brake lubricant that is specific for that high temperature application. Just in case you have not seen these: http://faq.ninja250.org/wiki/Brake_caliper_rebuild http://faq.ninja250.org/wiki/How_do_..._brake_pads%3F
