that was purposely confusing ;p. but basically it just means you pay $250 once and $20 each day you rent a trailer, instead of $200 EACH DAY with a truck rental.

and Gurk: I added that silly 5-6 bucks insurance cost, and it is STILL a bargain at 20 bucks a day.

and back to the camera thing: don't expect your dad can take http://www.caliphotography.com/ type pics.... not because of skill or equipment, it's just because he simply cannot get close enough.

just get a damn hitch. you'll be hooked on track and go at least 5-6 times per year (if not more) anyway. and it'll be worth it.

Hell Nov 9th will be my 13th of the year and 14th ever

EDIT: oh right, andy. i forgot about that. i never get it hehe.

if my 1.6L Civic and Sentra can get me up grapevine to Buttonwillow, your 3.5L V6 can definitely get you places.

Dad&Camera : In all honesty chuckwalla is probably the worst track for viewing from the side. He'll take a lot of photos in the front straight. That's about it.

Could you link me to the one you have or the hitches you are talking about?

this is another one from ebay, just in case you want options.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Curt-Class-2...9c3510&vxp=mtr

but it looks like the HitchFinder.com one is cheaper.

Now, not to confuse you anymore - the one from Hitchfinder is a Class One, meaning it can tow up to 2000lb (realistically, that's more than enough for a bike + trailer). The one from ebay is a Class Two, which is up to 3500lb. I don't know if a passenger car should tow anything that high. but the choice is yours. I will just stick with Class One and be done with.

Lastly, you will then need to install one electrical component:
http://www.hitchfinder.com/products/...onverter,51-57
you can do this yourself too.

and yes, you can certainly install the hitch yourself. one word of advice: don't tighten all bolts UNTIL both left and right sides are in place. If the hitch is just slightly bend (due to shipping or manufacturing defect), you will have a nightmare aligning the hole together.

I want to lie and say yes so that he helps you out.. But he could probably only get pics of the front straight and pit area. There are no raised places for him to stand on and see more of the track. So he could get people coming out of the last turn and on to the front straight as well as on to the first turn off the front straight.

That having been said I was at a track day in March in group C where a pretty fantastic crash happened 10 ft in front of me on the front straight. Your dad would have gotten great shots of that! And you can get some cool pictures of guys wheeling coming on to the front straight during the races on saturday and sunday if you choose to stay. Make it a bonding experience!

Well I'm gna just install a trailer hitch on my car, seems like a pretty sensible option. He would have had to take 2 days off work as well and I'm not sure he'd even really have fun if he couldn't get some good shots

Actually try your VERY best to arrive there no later than 7am. 6-7am is highly recommended because it takes time to unload, register, tech your bike, and get situated. Getting there at 8am, you'll feel rushed to do the above. That's the last thing you need. Your brain/body also needs time to absorb all the information given to you. Also, you may have questions before your first ride out so get there early.

You can also arrive there Thursday night which most of us do so we don't have to feel rushed and take our time sleeping in. Also, getting there Thursday makes the weekend seem longer.

The track day ends at 5PM. I encourage all of you, if you can, to stay over night at least through Saturday (Sunday would be awesome) to watch some of the races on Saturday. The 250 grid is getting really big out there and it'd be great to watch how fast these bikes can go; the bigger bikes are also a blast to watch. So if you can, stay the night and watch some racing on Saturday!

Andy said be to the track by 8. Don't do that. Do what Nemesis said and be there by 6-7. You need time for yourself and your bike before the riders meeting and what not. I will be there to help anyone with last minute prep. Like he said, and I highly recommend this, getting there Thursday night is also an option (it's what I'll be doing) that way you haven't been up since the buttcrack of night and you have some recent rest before heading out there. It's also fun to pal around in the pits and maybe even walk the track before you ride it. It's $10/person to get in for the track day (track fee, even if you have paid for the track day). $15/person if you stay for some of the races. DO THIS. IT'S SO FUN. You will love the sound of liter bikes and 600s blowing by at 100+ MPH on the front straight. So fun to watch.

I'd say if you got decent amount of track experience, then its okay to get there before the rider's meeting and miss the first session. If you're new to track then you absolutely don't want to miss your first session (usually at 9:40am). The first C group session of the day has a sighting lap (Two laps). Its a lot easier on a new track having done two slow laps before going hot (Full speed). Also, it no problem to ask one of experienced 250 riders to give you a tow at a speed your comfortable with.

You can get some overpriced sandwiches on track but the nearest food/gas besides that is 20 miles away from track. So yeah... Bring food.

Water is very important obviously but make sure you bring some food with good source of sodium too. Not enough water & sodium = cramps. I found out the hard way.

PS: Breakfast sandwich is fairly cheap. People love that sandwich for some reason but I thought it tasted like SH!T to be honest, lol.
