Mt Hamilton Ride - Sunday, Oct. 28th

You all most likely know where this is if you're reading this. If you don't it's a nice twisty road in between Livermore and San Jose.

Starbucks at 2707 McKee Road, San Jose, CA 95127. (intersection of Capitol & McKee, behind the Chevron station)

Oct 28th at 10:00 am, clutches out at 10:30 am sharp

This would be bad ass! I have a dinner on highway 9 Saturday night and I'm running (can't believe I'm saying this in "public") a Dungeons and Dragons game most of the day Sunday. If you guys do this and one of my plans changes, I'd love to go.

Feel free to invite other local riders too! How long is the round trip usually, for those who have done this ride before?

It's not like we're drag racing up that thing. It's brutal switchbacks. There's a restaurant up at the top I think. "The Junction"

http://www.yelp.com/biz/the-junction-livermore

http://www.thejunctionbarandgrill.com/

Do you guys want to go back down the Livermore side, or back down the San Jose side? Or we could always take it down to I-5......

@rusninja should come, there's nothing like the fear of lowsiding off a cliff to your death to teach you how to ride!

The Pirelli Diablo Scooters? They are some of the better tires you can get for the pregen bikes, nothing to worry about at all.

Good to know

How many miles do they usually last? I have 3300 on them now.

No such thing as "usual" when it comes to tire wear. All you can do is look at your own tires, monitor them as they approach the wear bars or start to get cupped or flat-spotted past what you're comfortable with.

Tell me about the road to Patterson

Every time I've zoomed past that exit on I-5, I've been curious. But I virtually never have time to indulge my curiosity. I live in the L.A. area, and when I'm on that part of I-5, I'm always hurrying to somewhere else. So what's it like, from I-5 to that junction on your ride? I like taking back roads. I used to work for a company in Silicon Valley and I worked out a route that involved about an hour on the freeway, and the rest on unpopulated twisties, all the way from L.A. to San Jose. Nice country, that. My favorite: Parkfield.

The Junction and Patterson are connected by a road called Del Puerto Canyon. Fun little two-lane road with nothing on it other than some farms. It goes through a dirtbiking park right in the middle. Here's a video of a part of that road coming back west.

If you guys decide to go pass the summit toward mines rd. and Del Puerto canyon ill try to make it out there. I have a running race in the morning but if I really haul ass(minus heart attack) I should be able to do both. I'll be coming up mines rd toward Hamilton if anyone wants to join me from the Livermore side.
