I'm in! Cone day we talked about should be way earlier. This weekend? Next?

I'm up for either 15 or 22 but earlier the better, for Tech day

I can't cook for ****, unfortunately. But soon enough, when I get my DSLR again, I wanna be the dedicated photographer of the group

Can it be a Sunday instead? I know HB only has Sundays off and as for me, it'll be hard asking for a Saturday off from a pizza delivery joint. We're always busy on Fridays and Saturdays.

HB doesn't quite grasp the concept of advance notice I'll check to see if the wifey has weekend plans for this Sun though.

I'm usually down for most weekends... so although the date is still tentative I plan to go unless work makes me do something on the date everyone actually picks

I'm at the foot of some good hills and they get snowed it heavy.
GMR gets dirty and big bear gets wet and snowed in also.

Hey lets not confuse cone day with the next tech day/BBQ!
10/22?!?!?! that's a month away!
Who's house!
I have a micro hibachi! lol Prolly not good enough but if anyone else has a bbq also we will be good to go with two bbq's! Hot dogs and hamburgers?

Trying to get as many to see this as possible... does anyone have a front and rear stand that I can borrow? I got a set of race take offs from Richard at RaceBike Rentals and want to get them mounted/balanced. Cycle Gear does it for $30/tire but they need to be removed from the bike... anyone able to help a brotha out?

You have both? You are in Tustin right? I could drive up there and pick them up... that would definitely be helpful

Do you know of a place up there by you that does mount/balance?

Was that on the bike or did you remove the wheels? Cycle Gear will do it for $60 but I gotta bring them the wheels as they don't have the ability to work on bikes there... they just have the tire mount/balance machine.

Let me check one other place that is closer as well and see... I definitely appreciate you offering up yours to borrow

Cheapest near you (under 10 miles) is $80 for the set. Factor in gas for your car to commute to pick up stands to see if it's worth it.

I thought Cycle Gear was cheaper than $60 for the set? I got mine mounted near me for $70.

I had mine done at Del Amo motor sports, they were a bit more expensive then some oof the others, there price quote was way off from what MSS said.

If the next tech day is on a sunday advance notice would be good to have, sundays are hard for me but i can work it if i know sooner. Either way i will be there i just may have to leave early.

I know but the quote on MSS.com was lower then what i paid, they also took for ever as it was there 30 dollar oil change day. They were close to me though so the extra 20 for convenience was worth it.

Weather never really stops me from riding. The only time I don't like to ride in the rain is when it hasn't rained for a long time and then it does. After the initial soak, it's all good to go. I haven't ridden in snow in over 20 years. The only mountain near me that gets snow is Palomar mountain and I rarely go up there.

The key to riding in inclement weather is to be as smooth as you can with all your inputs; braking, throttle, turning.

How much was it? I've got new tires on the way and was going to head over there to have them do it since it's pretty much the only place around. Plus they basically know me since i'm there looking at random crap all the time anyway...

lol I'm a pussy cause I don't romp SoCal Mountains when they get snowed in?

ACH will close this year again from snow, just watch.
That's a very popular road I want to ride before it closes AGAIN this year.

Highway 18, 38 and 138 will close down again up here too where I ride them.

Idyllwild 242 will be snowed in for sure. Every year.

Socal DOES have weather most people don't realize.

GMR gets dirty and unpredictable. It's already starting.
They pay to have it cleared and swept during the week so people don't die all weekend.
Baldy, one of the entrances to GMR/GRR, gets snowed in every year for sure.
I ride and fish this side all the time in the surrounding creeks.

Rock store is far for me and particularly bumpy and "hot" with cops.

Palomar is all guard rails. I hear disasters from that place. Also a personal quark about that place too I don't like. Cops too.

GMR best bet during winter if it's not dirty..
It's only 4,000' elevation and 99% of the time no snow up there.

There are other areas to ride! A lot of the canyons that I hit are surrounding Palomar mountain, as well as the roads that drop down into the desert.

As for dirty and unpredictable roads, that pretty much describes the rides that I ride. De Luz, Rice, Sage and Wilson Valley Road all get pretty dirty, but that's cool with me..it keeps the hordes away.

I been saying all over this site I look forward to winter so I can stunt without overheating.

I still ride all winter but the good local roads will be junked out before long.

I'm always itching to get up there all winter when the roads are blown out.

After romping GMR so much, everything else just seems kinda... ehhhhh

You have more guts then me, ill ride in rain but it will be as far away from twisty canyons. The main reason i posted about the rain was not to long ago a rider went up GMR with a couple of noobs . It was right after it rained and the two nubs manged to low side on the same turn one after the other. I am just trying not to let history repeat itself.

No worries man..I just have to laugh whenever a Southern California resident says that riding "season" is almost over. Being able to ride year round is why I stayed in California vs going back to VA after leaving the Marine Corps.

Anyways...I've taken this thread way off topic. Back to your regular scheduled program!
