Vortex Sprocket!

Finally got this sprocket installed. The blingy chain was not in the original plan, but I actually like the end result.

I went with a 39t rear sprocket. This setup smoothed out the vibration at higher speeds (1000 rpm less at 80mph)

setup look good.

how much slack do you have in your chain? looks a bit tight, but hard to tell for sure from here.

Thanks kkim.
There is just under an inch of slack. I went on the tighter side of the tolerances knowing now how much the chain will stretch initially!
I know these sprockets wear rather quickly, but it should last a good while with my mellow highway commute.
I would definitely suggest re-gearing this bike. Especially if you don't have a lot of stoplights to deal with!

you might want to loosen it up a bit to a little over 1". I've found it's better to be too loose than too tight. good o-ring chains don't seem to stretch much, so you might be tight for a long time... bad for output shaft and rear wheel bearings. also, rotate the chain to find the tightest spot and then measure the slack. It's not consistent along the entire chain... there are tight and loose spots, so gauge the 1" off the tightest spot you can find.

how did you realign the rear wheel? I hope you didn't just go by the hash marks on those adjuster plates.

I'll go check for the "tightest spot" thanks for the tip.

As for the alignment; I just counted the threads on the adjustment bolts. It rides awesome now, especially since I shimmed and pulled the snorkel while I had it apart.

that should put you pretty close, but you should follow up with the string method one day when you have time.
