600 mile service question?

I'm trying save money by doing the 600 mile service myself. By doing it myself will it void the warranty since it wasn't done by an authorized shop?

keep a log and the receipts for the parts. you should be fine unless you do something that leads to a failure due to the work you performed on the bike.

and if you need help, I've got a great write-up for it, but I haven't posted yet, as I don't have the pics done and probably won't have time for another couple of weeks - damn rain around here

Thanks a lot for u guys' input. One other thing that came to mind, basically all I need is to document the work. So basically any motorcycle shop can do the service as long as it is documented and can show a receipt that it was performed. It just weird doing a call around and every1 I asked how much it would cost and the price ranges vary from 140 to 330 (kawi dealer).

why not just do it yourself? it boils down to an oil/filter change and some nut and bolt tightening.

check out the 600 mile check noche just linked to and see if it's something you would be comfortable doing.

That's what I'm planning on doing. Best time to get to know my bike. This is my first bike by the way. I've worked on cars but never a bike. I will for sure learn a lot from the dyi in this forum.

I also plan on doing my own 600 mile service. I prefer to work on my own stuff whenever possible.

The 600 mile service was the only one I went to the shop for. I figured they are suppose to do a little extra looking around to make sure the bike doesn't have any manufacturing defects... Hopefully they would have shown up by then.

Also, in the US, you can't void your warranty just because you do the work yourself. However, if something happens to the bike, you need to be able to prove the issue was not caused by something you did/didn't do.
