Oil filter - o-rings?
Hey giys decision made oil change in progress now I get the new oil filter and it comes with two rings a big one ( which I figured), it also came with a small one about the size of a nickle, any idea as to where this little o ring might go?????

Little off topic but I have a problem im also doing an oil change and the filter came with two onrimgs a big one (which I figured out) but cant seem to find. Where the little o ring belongs/goes so im stuxk help!!!!!

The little o'ring goes on the shaft of the bolt where it passes through the alloy plate. You need to separate the bolt from the plate to see it.

Yeah, that flat washer almost always sticks to the bottom of the used filter whenever I change my oil.

Crap. I've done numerous oil changes but i can't remember right now ever seeing that washer..

Lol. I'm pretty sure everyone has at one point. The washer is very thin and gets sandwiched under the rubber gasket on the oil filter.

How important is it; what is its purpose? I'm 95% sure I've been riding without it..

The washer provides a bigger surface area so the spring does not push the rubber gasket on the oil filter all the way through. If that happens, the oil filter wouldn't be doing it's job as effectively.
