Final check before I buy my bike

Heres my list.

*Ninja 250R 2009 Red
*Kawasaki textile jacket
*HJC CL15 helmet red
*Alpinestar SPS gloves black
*Joe rocket pants 7.0
*Progressive insurance

Then once I have my bike I will add (As I make money)
*Headlight modulator
*HID beams
*Fender eliminator
MAYBE
*2 bros exhaust

What do you guys think? Am I missing anything? I already have my motorcycle endorsement and I have taken the BRC. I also ALWAYS wear steel toed boots... to school, to work, etc... So riding will be natural with them on. (Why boots aren't on the list)

Thanks

-Dave

Looks like you have everything covered but I would go with an Area P exhaust.

While you said you have steel toe boots - you would be better off investing in some motorcycle boots - the construction is different - and you want all the protection you can get!

I wouldnt do a headlight modulator with the HID kit.. most bilevel HID kits go to highbeam by angling the bulb up a bit using a small motor.. repeated high/low/high might wear it out.. do one or the other.. JMO

The only thing I would suggest would be proper motorbike boots/shoes. You need to protect that ankle of yours.

Yeah, like Mike says, if you only have one ankle, it is especially important that you protect it. Maybe you can get a deal by only having to buy one.

but yeah, with a steel toe boot, i guess your toes will be fine in a crash, but how is the support for your ankle(s)?

i am excited for you!! glad you are finally getting your bike.

We have two for a reason, if one is gone we have a backup!

Modulating HID's is a very bad idea. If the bulbs even fully ignite, it will be extremely hard on the ballasts. You're going to have to pick one or the other. Personally, I don't find the headlight on the Ninja that bad...I just don't ride that fast at night which I wouldn't do anyway with deer and all the other night hazards out here. And you can always use Silverstar or PIAA bulbs if you want brighter bulbs.

I dunno... I constantly have people asking me why my high beams are on - and they're not. Maybe the factory misaligned my bulbs, but they seem to be at roughly the right height.

Definitely wait to see the bulbs on your bike before you start replacing things.

Motorcycle boots are very different from steel toed boots. As talked about above, they are primarily to protect your ankle from either popping out of it's socket or getting crushed if you wreak. You should be able to find them for the same or not much more then a good pair of steel toed boots.

Safety Rule #1 - Don't skimp on your gear!

Brake light modulator is extremely useful... and alarm to keep the people off your bike! Ditto too on frame sliders.
