lol i like those commercials.
kinda off topic, but have u guys seen those cars in person? they were comparing them to MINIs >.>; but these cars are pretty damn big, not like huge but, wayyy bigger than what they make it seem on the commercials, and comparing them to a MINI made no sense whatsoever lol

Kia/Hyundai have come a long way in the past few years. About 10 years ago I would agree that they was ****, but they are a much different company now. They are making pretty good vehicles, have a 10-year 100k warranty, and a strong dealer network. There is a reason they are one of the few automakers that are seeing improving sales through the great recession.

I never have owned a Kia/Hyundai, but if I was in the market for a new car, I would not overlook them.

I think with the comparison to the mini your thinking of the suzuki sx4. Horrible compairson since the mini is more of a vanity and "toy" car and they don't aim it at the entry level coups/ sedans. The koup does seem to be a nice car especially for someone who wants a civic si type car but can't drive stick since that's the audience they're aiming at. And the hamsters kick butt...especially in the soul commercials

I drive an 05 Hyundai elantra.
When I got the car, it was purely about the price and warranty since I was driving 75 miles a day for school. I managed to grab the car (after months of arguing with the dealer) for 9100 OTD (MSRP was around 13k). It was one of those newspaper adds to draw people in where they have only 1 car on the lot that matches the adds vin number...any other car is full msrp, but it does the job of bringing people in to look around. They tried everything they could to not sell me the car, saying I needed this or that. The car, a completely base model, came with a factory alarm with keyless entry, power windows and locks, and plenty of other things, including a manual tranny, which is a MUST for me. Finally I got the car.

I will say, at first, I was hesitant, thinking the same old, Hyundai is crap, as everyone else says. It's been 4 years now, and I have nearly 50k miles. The car has never once seen the dealership. The ONLY thing that I have done to the car is replace tires and oil. And trust me, I drive the hell out of my car, bringing it to redline almost daily.
Also, I manage on average 28-29 mpg city driving, while I beat the hell out of it (I'm sure 33-34 is easily possibly with an easy driver). On the highway doing 90ish I average 32 mpg, and for a short wile a few years ago going for mpg's I averages 44 mpg for 2 months doing 60 mph.
As a comparison, I get around 40 mpg on the ninja in the city (which I drive only slightly harder then my car).

My view of Hyundai has completely changed since owning this car. It gets phenomenal gas mileage and has been virtually bulletproof. I'm just reaching 50k miles and it's about time for new tires (the rear tires are still factory since I don't rotate), and though there are no signs yet, I am going to do the brakes.

This car has completely amazed me. I got it thinking that I would only have to drive it a few years to finish school, and now I'm considering a new hyundai over any other brand.

Though, (on the original topic) those Kia Hamsters really make me want to get the Soul. It's a pretty cool little car thing.

From looking at there web site, the 2.0L has the 4sp auto as option. 2.7L motor only comes with a 6 speed. You know ya gotta have the bigger motor

Nice write up/info Tyler. Were gonna check out the dealer here pretty soon

2.7L with a 6 speed. This seems like it could be a pretty fun car.
