Any way to adjust throttle cable?

So 2 weeks ago I got a 2011 250r. It was an R-title completely repaired. Most small little annoying things I have gotten sorted out due to this site. So thanks for that.

One issue I am having, which is not a super big deal, but would like to adjust if possible. The throttle seems slightly sloppy as if the first .75 inch to inch of movement does nothing. It is only a little annoying because I have to start my wrist up a little higher than normal to start twisting the throttle. How can I adjust that cable to get rid of a little slack?

no biggie. Just make sure that you are still able to turn the bars lock to lock without messing with the throttle. while you're at it, lube your throttle cables. everyone should do that at least once a season to prevent corrosion and keep the cables moving smoothly.

This is what I use

werd. Just did all my cables. Made a mess because I was lazy and didn't put a towel down, but my cables are smoother now.

it's been sitting out in the hella rain that W Ohio has been getting lately, so I figured a little cable lube could only help.

I generally do mine about every few months, as my Ninjette lives outside, and I ride in the elements.

This guy right here recommended this to me and I'm never going back. It's awesome stuff, much less messy, lasts longer, and costs about the same. I even used it on my car's throttle cable because I figured I might as well while I was in there.

Glad you liked it, I too have tried a bunch of lube over my many, many years, and this is by far the easiest way to go.

They do as well, http://www.drislide.com/products/dri...moly-lubricant

Quote:
Dri-Slide* Multi-Purpose Lubricant, 5.25oz Aerosol Can
A versatile penetrating formula of Technical Fine grade moly and Graphite with rust and corrosion inhibitors.
Broad range of uses makes this our largest-selling lubricant. One of the easiest ways to apply drislide. It is the most widely specified dry film lubricant in aviation maintenance manuals and for general industrial MRO applications, for tractor-trailers, motorcycles, bicycles, and even weapons. Effective temperature range of -20* F to 750* F (7* C to 537* C). Agitation required. Drislide Multi-Purpose dries to a dry moly film, that bonds to the metal service, staying in place, to lubricate longer than other lubricants. Does not collect dust & dirt and repels moisture.
But the needle method I feel is less messy, you just insert the needle into where the cable goes into the sheathing. And just simply squeeze slowly until it comes out the other end.

Have some paper towels ready to catch the excess, it goes on as a liquid, but then dries leaving a film of molybdenum.

Quote:
Bike Aid creeps into the smallest spaces including the pins on the chain and cures to leave behind a dry film of moly. This unique dry film won't attract dirt or dust, is highly resistant to water, and prevents rust and corrosion It is the perfect lubricant to use on brake and gear cables, derailleurs, front and rear brake pivot points, shift controls, chains quick release nuts. Prevents cable freeze up. It functions properly in temperatures from -20* F to 750* F.
