Habits that travel with you

Haven't seen this type of thread recently, might have been one awhile ago, in that case I'll just feel dumb.

Do you guys ever catch yourselves doing things that relate to riding while you're not?

Pretty much every time I park up at school I catch myself, while walking, looking where my mirrors should be to see who's behind me.

Also when I mountain bike, I sometimes feel the need to shift using my left foot rather than my fingers.

When I'm driving my car through a twisty road, I have a tendency to look ahead like one would do whilst riding a sport bike. I guess it's not a bad habit, but I never did this before getting into riding.

I lean my upper body when taking a sharp turn in my car.

I hump my steering wheel when I drive my car... like I hump my gas tank when I stare at a hot girl when riding next to her.

WAIT WHAT IS THIS THREAD ABOUT

I haven't ridden a bicycle since high school, but a few months ago I needed to ride one, and I kept checking where my mirrors should be.

After not driving a cage for a while, and finally getting behind the wheel, I'll nearly crash coming out of my driveway trying to push the steering wheel. I actually hopped a curb in my Jeep once :x

I'm on a bicycle all the time. I look where my mirrors should be to check behind. I also look deep through turns and dip my inside shoulder and head into turns; this happens on both my road bike and my mountain bike. On my mountain bike, I have a habit of over breaking; the front brake is where the clutch should be (grab it = bad) and the rear brake is where the front brake should be (firm squeeze = locked back wheel)

In a car, I look through turns and lean.

chone, you should switch your brakes so your right is your front. I had the guys at the shop do that when I first bought my mountain bike.

Actually my husband and I were talking about something similar since we have started riding, we both have changed the way we drive our vehicles. Both of us have become more aware of things. We look at intersections as we approach them with more caution. We make sure cagers are actually slowing down and turning before we proceed. It is like a whole new world of driving has occurred. Not that we were bad drivers to begin with, or I think we weren't, to us it seems like since we have been riding and have to be more aware of your surroundings it has been incorporated into driving our trucks.

I think if everyone had to ride a motorcycle before driving a car, we would probably have more safe drivers on the road.

I pulled the front brake lever on my bicycle when coming to a stop sign thinking it was the clutch lever, stoppied, and fell over.
