I was doing a few wheelies here and there for a few weeks then started to notice a change in how my clutch felt... for the worse, so that and the thought of having to replace my fork seals was enough to convince me to stop. I guess my wheelies will be restricted to the dirt from now on.

Got my camera to record in higher res. today. I won't post any more of the same stuff from now on. It's real hard to concentrate with the phone right in my face anyways. Gotta figure out how to get rid of that damn head shake! Bike was fine yesterday!

Not sure what changes you felt because I haven't noticed anything in mine at all. I pulled my clutch plates not too long ago and they looked fine......

The fork seals blowing out is definitely an issue to consider!

The 250 is really not a good bike to wheelie because of the power of the engine and the low gearing of the tranny. Even though you can ride a wheelie for miles it takes a real expert to actually keep it at balance point for that long...

I got the 60T sprocket swapped in. Clutch readjusted (nuts loosened out) 8K clutch dump lifts the front maybe 3 inches off the ground but not enough throttle or not enough power to get it up further. Will have to see how 9K dump does when things dry up again.

Hey cuong!

Are you revving it hard or kind of high-idling it at 8k? You've gotta rev it hard and dump the clutch as the needle hits kind of like that arcade game. If you're sitting down you'll need more like 10k+ depending on your weight. Make sure to slide back as much as you can. COVER your rear brake and clutch of course. I have a better vid at the other forum.

Can I ask how (differently) it drives w/ the 60t in? Still street riding?

I don't think you need to sit back much, the bike has plenty of power to get the wheel up. But getting the wheel up to Balance point is a combination of a few things which have been mentioned here before. You initial speed, how quick you dump the clutch, how high in the revs you are in conjunction with how deep in the throttle you are.

You can rev to 10k with only 1/4 throttle and fully dump the clutch and only pull a little wheelette, Rev to 10k with 3/4 throttle and fully dump the clutch and you can potentially loop a wheelie.

practice and be safe. P.S. if you want to ride the wheelie out for a several yards you need to break the temptation to pull the bars in close upon wheelieing pulling yourself forward and stay in more of normal sitting position and lean weight back.

i'm not sure what you guys are arguing about but i saw the thread title and it reminded me i accidentally wheelied the 250 today at a stop sign.

I have clip-ons so my weight is a bit more forward. Forgot to mention that was working on sit-down wheelies which take more effort and finesse than stand up wheelies. I guess I should do the other way around until I get the hang of BP so I have an idea of how much throttle input is needed.

I ate too much and the front end lifted when I sat on it. didn't even use throttle.

Yeah the clip ons will have you leaned forward more but it's no problem. I"m running them as well. I've heard of lots of ppl learning sitdowns first and saying theyre the easiest I guess it's a personal choice.

I have learned to do my wheelies by going about 5 mph holding clutch in shifting to 2nd rev to about 9500 then dumping the clutch in 2nd. Seems easier to me then trying from 1st, plus the balance is already there from moving slowly.
