89 ninja 250r motor swap to 500
Well after 40k hard earned miles and a couple rebuilds, my 250 motor just has outlived it's time. Considering an ex500 motor swap. Anyone out there done this? I'm coming in blind here, not even sure if my carb or exhaust will fit the 500 motor. I know I'd have to rejet, not a big deal. But carb is already jetted for a bored stroked cammed compression slightly raised and muzzy 2-1 exhaust. Thoughts info??

The Sportisi Motorsport guys in Indonesia managed to do this swap. I believe it required fabrication work for custom engine mounts and there is no clearance for the fairings. This was on the 08+ frames, but the pregen frames will probably have the same issues.

Eh from what I'm seeing the frame just can't handle it :/. I'm not trying to kill myself lol. I just really loved this motorcycle. I guess I'll take the motor apart and see how bad it is in that case. And save through winter and move up

I would absolutely just buy a 500 off ebay and ride it with total confidence.
They are cheap as chips. Meanwhile put an RD 400 or 350 LC motor in the ninjette (no, I'm not kidding ) |
