Help with cold start (without choke)

Hey guys, dont know if anyone remembers my vacuum issue but i got it fixed and the bike runs/idles great.

I did notice my choke cable snapped at one part by the handlebars, so i had to disconnect it. Reason being when i turned the handlebars it would engage the choke during the ride.

MY question is, what are some tricks i can do to get the bike to start without the choke, while the bike is cold. When i try i usually have one chance to start it and mess with the throttle/idle adjustment. If it dies then i have to use ether to get it started and mess with the idle adjustment for a minute while it warms a bit. Is there something i can do until i can replace the choke cable so i can start my bike cold?

yes, that is obviously an option, yet, my bike will crank and chug slowly for a second. either way, i would have to sit off the bike waiting for it to warm up so any other method besides the hoopty string method?

Riding it is actually the fastest way to get it to warm it up, as long as you keep the rpms in check until it's up to operating temp

back out the idle mixture screws 2.5 turns from seated to richen it up a little, the "choke" on these bikes are actually enrichers to dump more fuel, instead of the traditional choke of closing off air supply, i commute on the bike everyday, and have not touched the "choke" since i did it to mine, for now (that may take a weekend if you've never worked with carbs before, but you can do it, don't pay the shop) try poppin the seat off and stuff a rag into the airbox, if she fires up get on it and put it in gear and let roll and idle speed, the bike under a load may keep it running long enough to warm up a little and be good to go, hope this helps
