Do I need a new frame?

Went down in a lowside, the Tail section was completely f'ed up. The brackets that hold on the rear seat are all warped and it kinda looks like some of the frame in the tail has been sanded down... but with pavement. Also the locking mechanism for the rear seat is all bent and no longer works. well anyway, since the brackets for the rear seat are welded to the frame, does that mean I would have to change the frame to fix them?

take it to a dealership and have them do some measurements to see what's bent. Do you have insurance to cover this?

I have insurance, but I have a 500 deductible so If it's more I'm gonna be paying 500 at most I believe. Since you mentioned insurance, I'm guessing this is gonna be expensive...

I hate to break it to you nav, but there's a good chance it might be totaled... if there's frame damage they're almost always totaled

Nav,

I would get your insurance involved and see what they say about how to proceed. I can imagine the damage goes easily over $500, but some pics might help.

This is what I'm looking into right now as well. Mine isn't that bad. It was hardly noticable until I tried to put the plastics back on and nothing is lining up. New frames are expensive, and used ones are very hard to find. Right now I have mine at a shop in town here. I'll let you know what they find. I was also looking at getting a frame with front end damage and cutting the subframe area out of it to weld onto my bike, along with getting a bolt on subframe from a bigger Ninja and modding the frames to fit together.

lets see some carnage!

the stealership would probably charge you $500 just to re-weld some brackets back on for your seat. if you've got trashed plastics and a beat up sub frame (tail section), then i'm sure insurance would total it... even though a racer like myself would love to have it.

I think what Broom is tryin to say is that he would like to be the first to put a bid in....
