Alright - It's that time again! MCN Fantasy League is up and running again. This year it is once again tied to MotoGP, WSB, and BSB teams. I have set up a ninjette.org league. It's completely free, and provides endless opportunities for trash-talking.
Sign up here: fantasyrace.motorcyclenews.com, and once your team is set up join the league with: mini-league name: ninjette password: 2016 Let's have some fun! (link to last year's 2015 event)

Hi Ben - I think I hit the button to accept your team, but now I don't see it in the league list yet. It might just be a delay, but maybe check in an hour or two to see from your side if it looks like you're in a league now.
edit: just saw this on the admin page there: Quote:

I'm not getting my hopes up. My terribly inadequate BSB knowledge seems like it may be an issue. This 100k in unspent budget also bugs me, but every trade I can see that seems like an improvement is 200k or more.

You can change your team completely as often as you want, up until the first race of the season. After that point, you can only change out 2 riders at a time per race.

I am suprised nobody took Lorenzo... Since everyone else took Marquez I might trade him for Pedrosa, put that 100k to better use, and gamble that Pedrosa might beat Marquez this year.

I count two teams with him, in addition to myself. I guess nearly half of us (3/8) are nobody I think Rossi may be a better choice (doesn't crash, always podiums, costs less in this game), but excluding him from my team was the only emotion based decision I made. I'd rather be, idk, kicked from a motorcycle at high-ish speeds mid-corner.
edit to add: Someone may have already said it, and I guess veterans would know for sure, but I expect the other series and B-teamers will decide a lot more than the obvious motoGP faves.

I think Rossi is the best choice for motogp due to consistency
didn't take him because I wanted to go with a balanced approach this season, throwing in riders who have a shot at getting me points in BSB (gotta find a way to watch that)

I know nothing of the racers etc except for my heroes Capirossi, Duhamel, Agostini, Dunlop & Vale.
Are there lists of racers etc so that those of us can play Monkey Darts and make a team to play along? It has worked for me picking stocks so why not to put together a racing team?

Yes, there's a button for it to randomly pick your team for you. All of the racers are priced according to their expected performance for the year already, so it's a pretty good bet that the 3M rider is going to be significantly more successful than the 1M rider. The way things are priced, it's likely that the 3M rider will be significantly more successful than the 2.5M rider.
Here's how they finished last year: MotoGP WSBK BSB

The bikes section of crash.net also lists the entire fields, but you'll have to hunt down the respective articles. It may be worth noting that the classes all have newcomers who wouldn't be represented in last year's results. A tiny handful of those newcomers may be podium competitors.
Edit: BSB Rider Lineup (crash.net) WSBK Rider 2016 provisional entry list (crash.net)

Alright, I think I have my final team made
I wish WSS was added into this and the MotoGP guys weren't so expensive Got a few of my goal racers but had to make a few sacrifices to make it work MotoGP: M. Vinales and J. Miller. I think I'm off to a good start, the top dogs are stupid expensive and these guys definitely have a good shot at getting points across the season. Particularly Vinales given his recent performance but I think this should be a breakout year for Miller WSBK: I wanted Rea again but he was slightly too expensive for the rest of the team to work so I got my hands on Sykes instead along with Hayden for some solid points across the season Helpful hints for WSBK: Alex Lowes is going to be a monster this year, he's underrated by far. Same with Vandermark. Both of those guys are great deals but I wanted the WSBK star power since I like cheering for my peeps, I'll still be cheering for Rea even though he's not on my team (this is the only part that may change, team would change to Rea/Lowes but I really like having Hayden on my team) The other racer to keep your eyes on is Brookes who I expect to lay down some regular top 6 finishes and get some good points Then BSB I put together a real team for this year, not the best but I went pure american racers this year. Hopkins up front and Rispoli somewhere in mid-pack should do well to help me out with extra points across the season. Had I wanted to go more budget I'd have gone Rispoli or Irwin and Hickman for optimal points

It might be helpful for all folks to review the Game Rules page that lays out the point structure. Only the first 5 get points for grid position, and the race ending points are similar to the MotoGP schedule (25,20,16,13,11,10,9,8,etc.). Also, keep in mind that the "captain" rule this year gives double points to whoever is chosen as your team captain. Looking at the points, getting one 1st is worth more than scoring both a 4th and a 5th. If the 1st place rider is your captain, getting 1st is worth more than both 3rd and 4th, even if the 3rd gets double points for captain. Time will tell, but I believe that this is favoring teams with a championship winner and a mid-pack rider, the most expensive one you can get after blowing most of the budget on the rider hopefully finishing 1st or 2nd quite often. We'll see...

except for vandermark being slightly quicker than I expected that also reminded me of guintoli, the guy is usually in the mix but wasn't last year for various reasons

That'd be cool. It might actually mean someone talking about PJ Jacobsen (even if it's only on this tiny corner of the internet). Every time I encounter a speculative piece about the next American world champ/great/etc, his name is conspicuously absent. It boggles my mind
edit to add: A little more on the thread topic, participants might want to keep up to date with the recent testing injuries.

Yeah, PJ is a boss. I'd say his current position is amazing for improving to the future, he has nicky hayden and vandermark for advice here and there until he moves up into WSBK and he has a relatively clear path to do that with in the next few years if he wants to stay with tenkate honda now that he's under their wing
and WSS has some seriously good racing to watch as well

I can't seem to find Race 1 on the BEIN schedule. There is an entry for race 2 on Saturday night. Torrents help, but live is always easier.

WSBK Race 1 was fun! Looks like they don't update the standings until the end of the weekend; Race 2 is live tonight....
