Shortening a Yoshimura Carbon Exhaust Pipe
A friend of mine wanted his Yoshi carbon pipe from his 2005 GSXR 1000 cut down so I volunteered to take on the project. So far the biggest problem has been 3 stainless rivets, where the rest are aluminum. Those suckers didn't want to come out and ate through 4 drill bits. I'll post pics as i comes along.

All in all the project was pretty intensive. You can't make a mistake. I probably won't ever cut a pipe down again (pssshh ya right!). If you want to do this I highly recommend good quality tools.
drill press good drill bits masking tape 12" miter saw metal cutting blade caliper/tape measure scissors rivet gun rivets Drilling the rivets out is difficult because the pipe isn't square, or round. Drilling the holes is hard for the same reason. The rest of it is simple. You just have to be very careful with measurements and cuts. Also, when you reassemble the end plates you want to be very careful not to damage the CF. I recommend a nice wax job after the project is complete. Hopefully I can get a video of what it sounds like here soon. |

I may end up doing this eventually to my Leo vince exhaust for my Triumph. Damn thing is so big that it kills the sound and I have to take the whole thing off just to change a tire.
