I thought about it. Seemed like a good idea until I thought about the D ring getting caught on the handlebar end @ 90 mph.

Wearing a parachute on a bike would be kind of cool. Ride on the back with someone else up front, get up to 100 mph and then yank the cord.

Wasn't there a dude that hooked up his bike to a hang glider? I think he didn't get off the ground because he had one of those litre bikes - bet the ninja could do it!
That would be a blast.

A parachute from a powered parachute could do it for sure. They are bigger and designed to carry more weight.

That powered glider is hanging beneath an "airfoil" not a parachute.

The main difference between an parachute and an airfoil is that the parachute is designed to withstand, spread and mitigate the stesses of deployment at terminal velocity. The airfoil is basically just a wing, and much more delicate than a parachute.

So far the only thing that will stop me from riding, or make me go back home is heat. When it's 90+ outside and my brain is starting to fry I can't think right. Sometimes I just go home and park it. Sometimes if I still feel good about riding I'll go home and take off a lot of gear (not good either). I'll change into a cold soaking wet T-Shirt, Mesh jacket, 3/4 brain bucket with no shield, gloves and boots. So far I've never had a crash on the street in about 40 years but I still keep the risk in mind. I think when I get too hot I might forget to ride scared, and that scares me.

Pretty simple. If I know I didn't get enough sleep or if I'm ill, I don't ride.

Personal experience: I dozed off on a ride after only getting three hours of sleep and almost crashed into the back of a parked pickup truck at 60mph. I woke up just in time to swerve around it with probably a few feet to spare.

Another trick. Always listen to hard core Conservative AM Talk Radio when riding. You will love it, or hate it, but it will keep your brain awake. Music will make you snooze. Especially if it's something you already heard 100 times. Music turns into a lullaby eventually.

I think that would just make me mad. I'd probably just get distracted trying to comprehend some of it .
