even push started it in 25 degree weather.

i think your mindset is completely wrong...
there's nothing wrong with carbs, just people are too lazy to make them work.

True the fuel/air ratio is set up quite lean to meet emissions. But I never had a problem starting mine? I used mine all the way through winter, it was usuallly about -7C at 6am cos I had to get to work.
Just rememebr you gotta stick both your legs out when you see all that ice on the road lol

It wasn't the whole of winter that I had this problem. It occured on and off for about a month on the coldest days. I managed to get around the problem by priming the engine twice (key on, key off, key on) and then pinning the throttle at ~5k as soon as she fired up. I'd hold the throttle there for about 5 seconds and then she wouldn't cut out so long as I didn't ride with the revs below ~3k.

No thanks! I have my heart set on the ugly, but well performing Area P 18" race full system

Is the Area P not an American exhaust? Most full systems are which usually means there won't be bit for the oxygen sensors on our bikes. Although I think I heard something about a bung and some majic sorting that out!

Its American. All you have to do to get a bung is contact Kerry at area p and he'll pit one in for you.

Area p isn't a big box exhaust maker. You contact them about things you want, and they'll work with you. That's why they have such a good rep here.

you can get a bung welded in any exhaust.
just find a good welder and pay him $50.

good places to look are shops that do wideband o2 installs on high performance cars.

But won't the Area P not have a hole for the oxygen sensor, so why would you bung up anything on the exhaust? Or do you mean bunging up the oxygen sensor?

The bung is the thing that you weld to the exhaust to screw the oxygen sensor into so it can poke through a hole and sniff the exhaust gasses...

No bung = no oxygen sensors.

Matz, you're right about the Ninja is set up to lean. Most of the riders in Germany in winter time have the same problem about start and run the engine in cold weather.
And here is another look why the Ninja 2013 sucks, take a look at comment #180 from a guy in Indonesia: http://www.kawiforums.com/ninja-250r...-250-a-18.html

Bah. His biggest complaint is that the plastics are thinner. The rest of the bike is pretty much parts straight from the 08-12 bike... swingarm, frame (which is beefed up) forks, etc. Build quality my butt. His issue is plastics that are thinner than he likes.

He should see a pregen in person, because if he did, he'd never buy a newgen; pregen fairings are freaking sturdy. However the 08-12 is clearly a better bike with more chances to upgrade/update.

I don't really see a downside to thinner plastics.

The fairings on the 08-12 will already crack if the bike is dropped. All this means is now they'll be cheaper to replace. That and the bike will be lighter and cheaper to produce.

The only purpose the fairings serve is to deflect wind. They can be as thin as paper and still do that.

it seems like there are more trim pieces on the new bike and the paint is candy color, not a flat color.

everything indicates additional repair costs.

i'm sure they examined a bunch of scenarios...
maybe they thought about competing against the ninja 400, but decided not to since it was not a big seller.
