It's an affiliate program, you sign up and they transfer you to a dealership that works with costco. The dealership has a "LIST" of set prices by costco OTD. Non negotiable i think, forgot.

Hmm... I wonder if they'd be more affordable at Costco than a dealership...
But then again, you did say the prices are non-negotiable, which probably means, "Either buy it for $6k or don't. We don't care."

Then it doesn't belong at Costco!

Yeah, interesting I just found this link and it looks like they started the program last November (2010) in California as a trial. I am in Colorado so it must be taking off... This article says Costco members get the discounted price plus a $250 costco card, and even get a 20% discount on parts, accessories, etc at the dealer.
The one here was a black Ninja on a display stand - I will have to take a pic if I go back this week...

Yeah it's real, with a costco card you can go to any participating dealer and get 20% off parts if you buy a bike from them or not! Very useful (:

Seems from the article that the dealer still negotiates with Costco for the 'member price'. What we really need is Costco selling directly. Until external dealers are out of the question I doubt we'll see OTD prices that actually reflect MSRP.

Hmmmmmm.... this is very interesting news, my parents have a Costco card and I've been eying up a rear-seat cowl.

I'll have to see if any of the local dealerships are affiliated with the program.

Go to costco.com and find the auto program, put in your parents card number and they will refer you to the nearest dealer. NOTE: you're parents have to be present since it's their card.

from Costco's site:

Quote:
PLUS, don't forget to ask about the 20% off parts, accessories and apparel* discount available at time of purchase
Wonder if this means it's 20% off only at time of initial purchase of the bike or if it's 20% off any time.

I've said it before, you can use the 20% anytime even if you don't buy from them. That's my personal experience. Never bought a bike from them, but still buy parts from them. can't beat 20% off everyday. Might have to check with your dealership though. Some will be douchebags cause they want more money.

Buying Motorcycles Through Costco?

So I saw the other day a $250 cash back when you buy a kawasaki through costco. My mom just recently purchased her car through them and the way it works is they send you to a dealer where you will pay a specific amount over invoice price. The idea is you get a good deal without having to haggle and the dealers get referrals and quick sales from costco. I signed up for an appointment, the closest authorized dealer is 30 miles away but right near where I work. For my mom's car, she got a print out sayins she would be paying $XXX over invoice price. When I signed up I got no such form, but I figure I'll try it out and see if I can get a good deal.

Has anyone had experience with buying through costco like this? The extra $250 will be nice and Kawasaki is doing an extra $300 back on the bike I'm looking at right.
