Cable lengths, 500 vs 250?

Hi all,

Forum newbie here but not new to the pre-gen 250. Currently without a bike but planning my next one, a 250 with either Concours risers like Duke's or maybe a tubular bar. I've searched high and low, here and elsewhere, but what I haven't found answered anywhere is this:

Are the cable lengths different between the Ninja 500 and the 250? Has anyone measured them?

According to the parts diagrams I've looked at, the ends appear to be compatible between the two ('94-up) but of course there's no mention of length. I assume the 500's are longer because it's a bigger bike, and the 500 engine swap thread on this site mentions that the engine is 2" farther from the front wheel on the 500. Two extra inches would just about do it.

But it would be nice if there were hard data out there. I'd love to be able to use factory replacements rather than getting custom cables made.

Has anyone compared them directly?

thx
Steve

Thanks for asking, but unfortunately there has been zero progress. Literally nothing to report. Other priorities have diverted my attention.

When I do get back to this project it looks like I'll be doing my own research, and I'll be happy to share what I learn.
