2 Bros Slip on Exhaust Question
Does anyone who has a 2 bros slip on know if you can still use the OEM heat shield with this can? I may be able to get one of these in areally sweet deal, but I was wondering about this since I've never seen pictures of the exhaust with a heat shield on, but I would like to have the heat shield on if I get this. Thanks.

I'm not really feeling the targa ones but the painted OEM one is exactly what I had in mind. I was just wondering whether its possible to still attach it with the 2 bros slip on.

Rip it out and give it a try, I would assume some light modifications may be required because of the different lengths, but you never know! But if you do do it, post up the results

So I just found out that the OEM heat shield will not work with the 2 bros exhaust. Does anyone know of an aftermarket heat shield (NOT TARGA) that will work? I'm just looking for one similar to the OEM style. I'm not really feeling the waffle look of the targa.

I have to admit, when I got my silver targa heat shield, it looked like crap. They heavy scuff sand it to conceal any scratches that your boot heel may do, then anodize it. I hated the look.
One afternoon I took it off and decided to polish it. Two days later, I finished it. Pain in the ass to do, but well worth the effort, as I get lots of compliments on it. I sanded it with a palm sander with 240 and 320 grit, then followed that up with hand sanding with 600, 800, and 1000, all of it lubricated by lots and lots of WD40 to keep build up from clogging the paper. After that was a random orbital buffer with Mother's aluminum mag wheel polish on a terry cloth bonnet. Finished up to a mirror shine, and can be touched up with just a little polish on a rag. To make it even nicer, I cut strips of a T shirt and polished up the pipe underneath, too, from where it exits the fairing to the can. THAT was harder to get looking good than the heat shield. The clamps are too long, and a little cheesy, but I got 'em nice and tight, and it hasn't moved in over 1K miles. Most people don't even realize that there are clamps even holding it on. The bonus is that it actually works. I used to get little random melt marks on my boot heel and on the pipe that were a pain to get off, but it hasn't been a problem since I put the shield on. Any scuffs on the shield just buff right out with my normal polish at each wash and wax (about every 6 weeks, supplemented with detail spray after every other ride). Here are some pics.
