New again

Yrs ago we got a ZZR250 for my wife to learn on....she quickly grew bored ofriding so it sat since 2012.

My 15 yr old nephew came 2nd in our endurance race championship in our GTL class that included many 250's, 300's, one EX500 and one RZ 350- and he wasonly on a CBR 125. So we have decided to race prep her Ninjette for him to race this yr, so I decided to re activate my account here.
Hoping to get to the 30 day and 25 post count soon so I can sell off the ZZR fairings and street stuff soon.

Welcome, eh!
To get that post count: you need more details. Like; what do you mean your wife is bored of the 250? Is she on a 'Busa now? A 600?
Great bike for your son to start on the track with!
Can't help you speed up the thirty days though.

Oh no-she wasn' bored of the bike- she was bored of riding. She decided it wasn't exciting, just stressful and not that interesting. She isn't anti-bike at all- in fact she has volunteered as registration and scoring assistant manager for our race series the past 3 yrs, and will in 2016 as well- we leave our 30' camper at the racetrack and basically the track is our "cottage" for our whole family.
She likes dirt bikes and quads though, and motorcycle racing basically defines our hobby as a family.... my oldest son who is 23 , races against me in both GTU endurance as well as vintage, and my 10 yr old son rides his dirtbike in the evenings after the roadraces are done on the infield MX track.
This coming season my 15 yr old nephew hopes to win the GTL endurance championship aboard the ZZR 250, as he was beaten by a few points last yr on his CBR 125 by a local team of veterans (some with 25 yrs racing experience) on their very well set up CBR 250.
He hopes that hislight weight and aggression can make a good challenge to their older and heavier bodies,LOL

He's in luck; he joined in 2010 and hit to 30 day point 5+ years ago.

Well- an update- we removed most of the subframe to fit an RS250 GP bike tail, the stock mufflers and header, alll lights and stock bodywork and all fairing brackets.
We installed Dunlop Unbeaten tires in 110/150 sizes, ebay rearsets, clipons, and a Ninja 300 race header and a shortened 2Bros muffler, a GP bike tail and an old R6 race upper fairing-its ugly for now...oh well, lol. The bike is way less than 300 lbs full of fuel now, and feels as light as the boy's previous CBR125.
We increased main jet to 110, and played a bit with washers to raise needles, but it still ran like crap below 9500.....so he had to keep it on the boil to finish his first race, but he managed to win his GTL class (lightweight bikes EX 500 and below).
I just ordered the factory pro jet kit designed for keeping airbox. We are toying with pod filter idea, but worry about cross winds, weather changes and endurance racing in the rain with them. When the boy can afford it, he will order alum rear sprocket and RS 250 fairings to match the tailsection.

So the day before every race round, we host a trackday/practise day. -wifey had me bring her new Ninja 300 along with our other 3 bikes to our last round with the intentions of doing the trackday in the slow group, since she had never really ridden a bike outside of a parking lot except once or twice on city streets.....and has certainly never ridden on a track.
Well when she got there, the admin of our series convinced her to take the race school instead....so she did, and passed. I couldn't beleieve how far she came in one day- from wobbling around in the first session , to holding smooth, predictable and accurate lines and looking where she wants to go by the end of the day-literally almost zero chicken strips left on her brand new Alpha 13s!
Then she had some celabratory wine with my buddy's wife, who has done a few trackdays and a race school herself, and between them with some liquid courage decided that they were gonnna do the 3 hr endurance race the next day on theother lady's Ninja 250- and sure as **** they did! I think they came second last in the lightweight class, but they did it!

And my nephew who is racing my wife's old 2002 ZZR 250 has won the first lightweight endurance and came 2nd in the last one by a mere 2 laps.
The ZZR is actually pretty quick, fully piped with a Factory Pro jetkit and almost 40 lbs sawzalled off of it......did I mention he weighs 110 lbs? LOL
