Cortech Latigo Boots Review: After 1500 miles and one lowside

Last Fall I was in a rush to get some affordable boots with some good protection. I came across the Cortech Latigos and gave them a chance.

Fit & Comfort: The fit on the boots was perfect. They come in euro sizes. I usually wear a 9 and I went with with 43. No problems. They are stiff and at first it was awkward to shift but I got used to them very quickly. They are comfortable to walk in for a few blocks if need be. They have a slight forward cant to them so they aren't as comfortable as shoes but that's the price of protection. No problem getting regular jeans + overpants over them.

One thing to note is that these are the waterproof boots. I've ridden with them in 32 degree weather and they kept my toes warm. Which likely means I may need other boots for summer heat.

Build: I didn't see any loose seam issues when I got them. After 1500 miles there is like one seam coming undone but it isn't a problem. The soles have some wear and tear but nothing that seems unusual.

Protection: The boots have great protection for $150. They have armor around the heel, ankle, toe(slider) and shin. I went down in a sharp turn at around 30mpg. It was a lowside so at some point the bike fell on my foot. The boot protected me perfectly and I walked away. Not only that but they held together fine enough that I'll be using them this upcoming season. They are really just scratched up. The armor protected the leather itself.

After all is said and done, would I buy them again? Yes, I would. They have good protection, value and fit. I don't think you can beat them for $150. Feel free to post any questions.

and that chance was rewarded with??? I'm genuinely interested since I'm considering them for track bikes due to the cost.

Don't worry, I understand. I was just messing with you.

alright, read the review and I am sold hahaha those boots, some gauntlet gloves (thinking scorpion exowear gloves http://stores.sportbiketrackgear.com...l.bok?no=31724) and a track specific helmet (that way I don't trash my $400+ helmet in a track crash and a $120~ helmet with snell cert. will protect me just as well.

Cool cool. I think you're paying more for comfort and lighter weight with expensive helmets. i just wanted something with Dot and Snell cert. when I got mine. It's an HJC and it was like $135.

I've had these same boots for some time now and I like them a lot. They are super easy to get on and off, have good protection and are really comfy. I've been fortunate enough not to test mine with a crash but it's nice to see they hold up well.

i also have these boots! i'm glad they work in a crash..

these seemed to be the cheapest full boot on revzilla so i bought em. I have the perforated version.

no problems to report otherwise either.

I've got a pair as well, but they're just a bit too big for me. I might try to put them up for sale here in a bit (if anyone is looking, *wink, wink, nudge, nudge*) and get a pair that fit correctly.

Yea that's my thought process as well, so long as it has snell/ece22 then it should be fine for a track pace that can't break 100mph anyway.

Squeak squeak squeak.

I have no problems with these boots as well. All that is needed is a little break-in.
Thanks for the crash report.

Good review.

I might consider a pair when I try a track this summer!
