Some terms that I don't quite understand
Hello,
I just bought a 2008 250r (first bike) and there are some terms I don't quite understand. The person I bought it from told me it's been jetted (HMF pipe installed), and that no choke use is needed. I guess if no choke is needed, then I just start her up and ride her almost right away? The part I don't understand is how that actually works. It idles at about 1300 RPM on a cold start. Another question is, how difficult is it to replace the left, right, and front fairings? I'm a total newb and I'm concerned about dropping my bike. The bike currently has nice shiny looking fairings for those three sides. The seller gave me the stock fairings and suggested that I put those on instead until I get comfortable enough with the bike. I was just going to do this myself as the process doesn't look TOO complicated. Thanks |

I didn't watch this, but it looks like the right info. It's fairly easy to do the fairings, I can now get mine on and off in about 30 minutes total. I've done it a few times now.... If it starts no choke, cool. Mine won't

Jetted means the Jets within the carbs have been changed to different sizes I believe
L+R fairings are a few bolts and that's it, maybe an extra pair of hands very simple

Is there info on how to remove the upper fairing? Trozza's follow-up in kkim's post seems to have the pic links broken.

Welcome.
I cant remember the sequence. You can go here http://www.kawasakipartshouse.com/oe...cle_2008/parts find the pic of your parts and see how it is together. I will tell you the tabs are fragile. You might look for a you tube video. |

The left and right were easy. Gave up on the front - too many electricals connected to it and not enough space to maneuver easily.

The fairings are fairly easy. Couple of bolts by the headlight, two by the tank, one on the middle left, one on the inside, and one on the bottom. The rest are plastic clips. You have to remove the black side covers though.

Sawzalll. it will get those pesky fairings off in a jiffy.
If your bike starts and runs without chooke... might want to make sure it isnt running rich. not that it will matter.

Ride with crap or afterward fairings. That way if you sell you can throw the stock ones back on and it'll look great. Usually aftermarket fairings are worth less and don't increase the value of the bike.
