Thanks Alex, we just kinda wondered around on some local roads. Many of the roads we usually ride were closed due to the rain we received over the past few days. Finally got the GoPro setup so wanted to test that out, easy and works well. I will have to remember to make sure the lens cover is clean next time.

Nice videos. It took me a while (reading the street signs) to figure out where you were- I'm in Carroll County, a bit further North. All of the "country" roads in Maryland look much the same, but there sure are plenty of them. I like to ride up to Cunningham Falls State park, near Thurmont. The back roads in the mountains are beautiful and mostly well paved, and a blast to explore on a bike.

I also like your riding style. Very smooth. And the camera work is excellent.

Hey Chris,

We all love "south county" (Deale and surrounding), good roads. Would be cool to catch up some time for a ride. Maybe a Maryland Ninja 250 Meetup ride? Humm.

As far as my riding style, I like to ride smooth and controlled, I don't ride more than 60-70% on the street and don't speed through a turn or over a hill I cannot see all the way through. I have seen too many people go down through the years, my motto is "live to ride another day".

I like the GoPro, cool little camera and it's easy to use.

Yes, I only had it set to 720 @ 60fps... I'm not sure what YouTube cuts it down to during their "processing" during upload either.

interesting, cause when I mount the GO HD to the fairing, I get the "jello" effect in the video. I don't see that in yours.

Just when you mount it to the fairing? Is it set to 60 or 30fps?

it was heavily discussed in another GP HD thread and the end result was that it was a product of the engine vibration and the type of ccd sensor they use in the camera. Did you just get the camera? Perhaps it has updated software that eliminates this problem... does the camera have the setting so you can shoot upside down? I know that was added in the updated version of software for the GP HD.

I'm assuming you're using the suction cup mounting and attaching to the fairing, correct?

also, what back plate are you using? I notice a lack of wind noise, but yet the engine can be easily heard. makes me wish I had a GP HD camera... oh wait, I do!!

I got the camera 2 years ago when the HD's just came out.

I just got the LCD BacPac for it and use one the rear covers that came with it.

I did a required firmware update to use the LCD BacPac, the update is available HERE. Yes, the update does allow the inverted shooting, pretty cool.

I'm using the suction cup with arm... let me run out and get a pic of the setup, brb...

Nope, no "jello" for me.

Ahh, I see what you mean. Only thing I do on most rides is tether the arm of the GoPro to the turn signal... A zip ties remains around the signal stalk, a zip tie remains around the GP arm then I use a non-weight bearing carabiner to connect the 2... I wonder if this helps secure it any? Enough to keep it taut? Just throwing out some ideas.

Btw, cool video and those are some nice roads!

thanks. I'm missing a riding partner right now... Steve seems to be AWOL, so not many stret riding vids to post.

wish I could get my vids as clear as what you've posted. Good work and nice smooth riding.

I even get the wavy effect when the camera is mounted to my tank with the suction cup when I'm simply idling in my garage.

hope your wife is enjoying her new toy... btw, how about having her join. many great females on the board with whom she can relate, I bet.

Still get that when sitting still, that's terrible. Maybe a bad camera? Have you reached out to go pro yet? May be worth a call or email to see what they have to say on it.

I have tried to get my wife to join, she said she may later. I think it would be cool.

I'm going to keep testing out some video. I want to run a good road and take some video with different mounts. Also my buddy on the 2010 SE has a go pro hd, so we can both run em and then maybe edit it together, that would be neat.

I really hope you get the camera fixed, it's a nice piece and the video i have on my laptop before uploading looks like HD TV, its amazing.

I've "solved" the problem of the waves by mounting the camera to my helmets. I like the view it provides in the vids, but I also like the perspective from the fairing, too. The video quality is amazing in raw form. It's just this wavy video that to me makes an almost perfect product, flawed.

btw, I'm not the only one with this problem... it's pretty widespread among GP HD users. have you been to the go pro forum? http://goprouser.freeforums.org/

I have a similar setup as slolane with the suction cup mount but with the Kodak Playsport camera. I ran into similar issues when placing it on the side. Make sure you mount the camera to the most solid part of the fairing, like near the mirrors or on the tank. The rigidness of the frame makes the camera more stable. Also, I think slolane has a stock exhaust. I'm guessing here, but I think there's more vibration from the after-market cans.

@slolane. Nice vids! I almost went out that way Saturday. Got out for a bit and realized I didn't feel like riding. So, I headed back home. This weekend should be warmer.
