I was saying that leaving the stock exhaust wont hurt anything but the looks

I think that pop is ok because of the morning temp.

Shimming and removing the snorkel with a stock exaust is fine and preferred by most people. It won't Hurt the bike at all. As for the back firing in the morning with a slip on I am not sure, most slip ons avoid that with shimming but it only happening in the morning it seems strange.

Our bike does a standard backfire when starting up every 100 starts or so.

Startles you the first time it happens lol.

Jet's bike did it after our valve job. It might be some residual fuel left in the cylinder before you try to start it.

It's ok to run stock exhaust even if you rejet the bike and remove the airbox.

My 09 has the stock exhaust, snorkel removed and two washers under the needles. Runs much better than the day I brought it home.

If you are referring to me, that would be a no.
I have a modified air filter (no air filter box) and stock exhaust.

Is it that much of a difference to remove the airbox intead of just an aftermarket air filter?
