Front Fender Removal
Was wondering if anyone could give me some info on how to remove the front fender, mine is cracked and bent after a crash i had the other day and i am one handed trying to get it off. If someone could point me in the right direction preferably without removing the fairings and front fairing that would be great.
I know people have done it because there are pics all over of the bike without the front fender on. |

More damage than i thought..
okay, so dont you just hate it when u take a part off to see how bad the damage really is and its way worse than you originally expected.
hoping i am worried over a simple fix but its starting to not look that way.. here are some pics and im going to upload a short video in a bit so hopefully someone can give me some advice. first is the obvious and most easily fixed damage:http://img98.imageshack.us/img98/6203/img0216v.jpg which is on the shifter side. but it should be easy enough to replace. for which the part arrive today from thailand.. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Kawas...item2c58269122http://img98.imageshack.us/img98/6203/img0216v.jpg worried about the frame being slightly bent as things arent sitting quite right above it: http://img710.imageshack.us/i/img0217mg.jpg/ although its very minor and not a big worry, however what is a worry is the steering. the front fender snapped in one place and i was initally worried about having lost the front wheel alignment, i figured i would just loosen the wheel and realign... but after removing the front fender i noticed that the frame that the fender sits on is pretty bent.. the photos arent the best due to lighting but hopefully i will just be able to buy another part and replace what is bent and hope for the best.. unless my forks are bent.. http://img510.imageshack.us/i/img0218u.jpg/ http://img138.imageshack.us/i/img0219rn.jpg/ http://img827.imageshack.us/i/img0220jh.jpg/ http://img213.imageshack.us/i/img0222x.jpg/ last pic is how close it sits to the fairings. just curious. who thinks that this would be a write off? living in australia the bike costs $7000, the insurance is $2500 and the excess on the policy is $1900 for a rider under 21 without a full licence like me. so rather than pay for a new bike every 3 years i chose to just get fire and theft and third party insurance. I still think i made the right decision. p.s. video still to come. sorry about the image size, i struggle to reduce the quality of iphone 4 pics. album link: http://img145.imageshack.us/gal.php?g=img0214w.jpg http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7BqBooRG0mU Last futzed with by Poyter; October 20th, 2010 at 11:52 PM. Reason: added album link. added youtube link.. |
