Gimme a song !

I was in the Jeep lastnight driving home when a song came on the radio. I had not heard it in several years but I remembered every word. I turned up the radio as loud as the damn thing would go. I bet I looked like an idiot as I rocked out. It was the best time I have ever had in a car by myself.

That gave me an idea for this post.

Name one song above all others that you can not resist. If it makes you dance, sing or bang your head, tell us what it is. Then post a YouTube link and explain.

Candlebox - Far Behind

Link to original page on YouTube.

I'm sure some of you remember this. I was in High School when it came out. I wore the CD out. One of my fav bands ever.

Can't tell you as a musician. There are too many that qualify to be great to me.

I can't even list a favorite band. I like all different kinds. I listen to classical, metal, jazz, Christian (mainly now), alternative, trance, house, techno, thrash, death metal (the Christian kind), oldies, etc. I've been exposed to all this at a young age, so it has all grown on me.

I am not a big rap fan though. I view it as a fad, not a lasting music.

Mine is "The Scientist" by Coldplay. When my son (he is now almost 3) was a baby, I would watch "The Long Way Round" with Ewan McGregor and Charlie Borman. That movie played that song a couple times on different episodes. We seriously watched it a lot. Ever since then, that song will calm him down no matter what. The reason it's my favorite song is it takes me back to those times he would wake up crying and needed me to hold him, or the times when he was an infant and we watched that show. I have always had it as an MP3 on my phone because it will always calm him down no matter what state he is in. It's not the greatest song to some people, but I love where that song takes me, and the memories I have with it. Ok I'm done.

Ok Joker.

This song takes me to a place. I can't quite describe it. As a composer this is my favorite arrangement. It is peaceful, moving, just amazing in my eyes. Hans Zimmer is a genius. This can calm me no matter what, relax me when nothing else can. Plus since I played low brass (trombone, baritone and tuba), and also bass guitar, the feeling put into the low brass is very impressive.

Hans did a bang up job on the Gladiator soundtrack. Him and John Williams are just awesome.

This is the link for the video I posted.

The characters after the "=" in the web page link are put in between the youtube part.

Now type:
(youtube)Fw8JyjEIpW0(/youtube) to embed the video.

Now replace the () with brackets - []

So it will look like... [ youtube ]Fw8JyjEIpW0[ /youtube ]

(without the spaces in between the brackets and the youtube text)

The end result is this:

Okay, let's see if this worked.

Makes me dance:

Makes me sing:

Makes me bang my head:

Makes me bang my head again:

What can I say, I have eclectic tastes...though I do lean more toward the head-banging stuff.

Thanks, Mark!

This has become one of my new fav. I grew in the Grunge era and Pearl Jam has always been one of my favorite band. I'm a bit older and more sedate now, this one just hits a cord in me.

Ever since I watch this once, I had to show it to all my friend. I think it one of the most amazing performance I've seen..just because it's so special. I mean seriously, the guitar is awesome, I'm a bit young and I was suprised this was from 1973 !!!
