Hi new here! from south texas.

I had always checked this site out for help but never really joined till today and I am pretty excited since Iv been messing with my 02 ninja 250 more often. Anyways I am currently having an issue with her, she was running fine till one day it bogged down on the highway and died rolling. Luckily the momentum got me to safety. I looked at my in line clear fuel filter and it was empty, half a tank of gas. I started messing with the petcock till is slowly filled the filter full again, crank it started fine and ran fine till a couple miles same thing happened. limped it home like that stopping every couple miles to let it breath i guess u could say. I looked up videos how to clean carbs, I am an automotive mechanic but not a motorcycle one, decided to give it a shot. I cleaned it how forums and videos showed and now it wont even start just crank and crank.filter is full of gas and I don't think its flooding because i do not smell or see gas leaking anywhere, spark plugs are dry and in good condition, i did not mess with the idle screws. I too out the jets and needles and cleaned them up and reinstalled. now im stumped any help would be greatly appreciated. When it started the bogging it was like the gas flow from the tank was not keeping up with the engine. Vacuum feels strong and i sprayed the engine with carb cleaner see if i could find a leak and hear the engine rev but no dice.

Not messing with the idle screws kinda says you didn't do a really complete carb cleaning.

Thanks for the warm welcome guys! So i took the carbs to an actual bike mechanic and he said he had to adjust the floats. Went home installed them and she fired right up. As for my fuel issue the venting holes were clogged, cleared them out with compressed air. Its running good BUT I cant reconnect the air box and my fuel is still not flowing how it should, could thst be the cause? Petvock is new and clean too.

hello!

It totally sounds like on a 15 y/o bike, you have a plugged tank screen, the slow jets are plugging from tiny fragments still left behind in the fuel system or the bowls are going dry from a stuck float.

I'd say you should pull the tank, clean the petcock and screen in the tank, pull those carbs again, pull the slow jets, main jets, see if you can see daylight FOR SURE through them, check the needles, get the idle screws out, run wire through the carb circuits, BOIL the carbs to remove any funk and that should cover you man.

good luck!
