exhaust backfire question

ok this has only happened TWICE but it still has got me curious. 2010 with 6600 miles on it. regular oil changes and service. BUT twice now when starting the bike has made a sound like it backfired. The first time was the day after it had been laid down so i didnt think too much of it figuring some fuel moved around. The second was earlier today and nothing of the sort has happened. The bike hadnt been ridden in like a day but thats it. SO it was starting cold. Choke was on full btw.

Ive had the bike close to 3 weeks and like i mentioned its only happened these two times. Should i be worried about this or is it just something that occasionally happens?

I don't have the solution to your problem or any ideas on it yet but I just had the same thing today.

It made a noise like a fire cracker when I hit the starter button after it had sat for about 4-5 hours.

I figured it might have backfired. I'll ask my tech friends and see if they have anything to say and let you know =]

mine did it this morning. Normally I start it after backing out of the garage, but I was running late this morning so I set the choke and hit the starter as I was backing out. it sounded like someone fired a shotgun, and the neighbour across the street that was mowing his lawn stopped dead and was looking over at me. it's done it half a dozen times since I bought it, but it always fires right up and runs fine after.
